Hardly a travesty. A travesty is a child with a life-threatening illness. This is just a game not on the schedule. |

Donnie, that would be a tragedy. A travesty is a dramatic, literary term for something ludicrous on inane. Please know what a word's definition is before attempting to assert your intellect. |

Bottom line, in the overall scheme of things it doesn't matter. It's just a game on a minor league team's schedule. |

This is crap... Cincinnati is a known name in the ECHL, and coupled with the natural in-state rivalry, it would have been a great outdoor game |

I'm with you, CMan. It would've been great, especially considering Cincinnati's success in recent years and the intrastate rivalry. It appears that Toledo went purely with geographical proximity to determine their opponents. Unfortunately, Kalamazoo is having problems drawing at home, so they probably won't help the gate much on the road. And Ft. Wayne just came into the ECHL recently. Bummer.

Fort Wayne and Kalamazoo are bigger rivals for Toledo than Cincinnati. The cities were playing games in Toledo in the old IHL years before the original ECHL Cyclones were born.
The outdoor game doesn't have to include the Cyclones for it to be a "great" game. |

But this isn't the IHL. The Toledo team is completely different from those IHL squads. And it's always nice to keep business in state.

You missed the point. Am I surprised? No. Happens a lot with Cyclones fans.
More fans from Fort Wayne and Kalamazoo will travel to the game, stay in the hotels, eat at the restaurants, shop at the stores than there would be from Cincinnati.
Kalamazoo doesn't average as many fans per game as the Cyclones, but the core base -- the fans that closely follow the team and are in the stands for the majority of the games -- is stronger.
No business for the state will be lost by not having the Cyclones involved. |

Ft. Wayne is a good call, but Kalamazoo can't draw flies. Cincinnati is far larger in market size than both of those cities. It seems like a natural fit to promote the I-75 rivalry, especially with the Cyclones' recent success, the evenness of the series and the fact that the Cyclone ended the Storm. |
