This was an interesting stat sent out by Nick today. It must be an anomaly since the Cyclone lost all three games.
Your stat of the day, the #CincyCyclones have posted 40 shots or more in three straight games. 1st time in club history they’ve done this |

Great pickup. Thats a pure homer statistic where he is crawling to find something good from those three games. In addition to losing those games, our 40+ shots in each came from the other team having a save percent of .911 which is about average or a bit better. What Nick doesn't say also is that our save percent during those three games was .851 which is horrible. Have complained about the teams soft and passive defensive system all year so won't go there again. By the way, the two previous games which we won we gave up 5 goals in each!!!. Thats 22 goals in the last five games with a save % of .868. Players were left alone in front and walked in from everywhere all night in all games. On Toledo's 2nd goal Friday the guy walked in from the face-off dot and got around three players who never laid their body on him at all and here I thought you were allowed to check a man when he has the puck. Worst defensive play I have seen all year. |

Shots on goal is a meaningless statistic. Scoring chances for and scoring chances against, which doesn't show up on the scoreboard and game sheet, is what matters.

Donnie nails it. In those games, how many of the 'Clones 40+ shots were from outside with no screen, from silly angles, etc? The short answer, a bunch. Of the handful of shots given up by the Cyclones in those games how many were redirected by a screening player in front, came off odd man rushes or from turnovers in front of their own net? It's the same answer, a bunch. It's an equation which doesn't bode well for the 'Clones. |
