Skalde was always a huge fan of this kid. Said that he had everything it took to get to the NHL as a grinder except that his skating wasn't what you'd want.
Chuck Weber actually said that Wilson was no more than a fourth line AHLer when he was in Cincinnati during the Kelly Cup playoffs last season. That's ok, Chuck. I thought that Ryan Johansen of Columbus was going to be a bust. I was a lot more wrong than Weber! LOL
Congrats to Garrett Wilson!! It's so cool seeing a kid experience his dream-even for a short while-after starting in the ECHL.
Wilson made his debut the other night vs. San Jose. Logged 8 minutes and registered 3 hits. Looks like he saw 4th line action with former Montreal Canadien $7 million per year washout Scott Gomez. Wilson wore #28 for the Panthers
