Playoff rosters for all teams. Note the category "playoff eligible". Nice that all the remaining SA players would be eligible after just two games of this series.

Bushbaker and Joe Howe released. Thanks to both. Joe really helped when he first got here and had to carry a lot of the load. Hope they both find an ECHL spot next year

Can someone explain the strange circumstances of Paul Crowder's playoff ineligibility? Apparently, it has something to do with a two-way contract, but it seems to be counter intuitive.

Paul is a veteran under contract with an affiliate, the rule states he has to play 10 games IN THE AHL. He only played a few so he's ineligible.

It's not really that strange of an occurrence. The same thing almost happened to Jason Jozsa in in 2010 but Milwaukee managed to get him a couple games late in the season and he just got 10 in. He ended up being huge on the blue line for the Championship run that year.

The roster is officially locked. The link dbc posted lists 22 players. The ream can add players from the "eligible" list up until the total hits 23 or the conference finals.

San Antonio re-assigned Josh McFadden today so he'll make 23 and that's that. Even if others become eligible it is not possible for the 'Clones to release players to make room for anyone.

The only name I question is Matt Tinordi. Given some of the offensive weaponry that's potentially available after 2 games I'm a little surprised Simon didn't try to leave a spot open. Since Combs and Miskovic where traded from the FLA/SAN system, I doubt we'd see them, but the scoring prowess of McFarland or Saporini would be nice to have.

I agree Elvis. Bit surprised the Clones named 20 active players right away plus the two iR players when they were required to name only 19. Great that SA sent McFadden back but would have loved to see Luciani or McFarland back even if it was after the AHL season ended rather than one of the 3rd or 4th liners that were included. Still though the lineup has greatly been improved in the last two days. Hated this aspect of the ECHL playoff rosters in the past when we went up against teams who got a lot of players back, but must admit it is nice when we are the beneficiary.

Will be interesting to see if Simon plays Eves up front or on the back line which is not as strong a group.

If I'm not mistaken, Luciani got hurt is is done for the year so he wasn't really an option.

I do that sometimes players can "opt out" of the re-assignment. I recall Chris Mueller doing it. We'll never know the conversations that take place, perhaps it's an injury issue (something that can be played on for a few games but you wouldn't want to trust over a playoff run) or players wanting to "opt out." Those are the main reason I can see where a guy like Tinordi gets a spot over the possibility of Saporini or McFarland. When push comes to shove though I'd rather have a guy that is heathly and wants to be here than one that's overly banged up or doesn't really want to be here. Regardless, we have to trust the powers that be that they selected the 22 best available options.

It's a shame not to see David MacDonald's name anywhere. Also to see Dalhuisen as a reserve. We could sure use their toughness. Who is going to wear the Daddy Pants without those guys on the ice?

Also a shame to see that Crowder (eligibility) and Luciani (injury) will not be around. We would not be in the playoffs at all if not for those guys.

As for the rest of the roster, I agree with Elvis that we need to trust the powers that be that we have the best available roster. I am now very excited about the playoffs.

It would seem to me that they expect both Dalheusin and Nugent to be ready to play fairly quickly or they wouldn't have put them on the list and in effect wasted to spots. Not sure what their IR status is.

David MacDonald's injury was basically a season ender.

Thor should be ready sooner rather than later.

Additioanally, I jumped the gun yesterday on McFadden. He was re-assigned here but was called right back up this morning. It could have been a temporary "paper" transaction. Regardless, he was never officially added by the Cyclones so the roster still sits at 22.
