HAPPY EASTER Everyone!! It has been a great season and I along with many others are very happy to see hockey back in Cincinnati. So, with no further ado, Here are the winners of the First Annual HACKLER AWARDS:
1. Player of the year.
The award goes to J-M Daoust. J-M is a little guy...on the outside. The kid has balls, and a huge heart. With 30 something goals, he has produced on the scoreboard, but is just one reasen he deserves this award. Beind the smallest guy on the team, one wouldn't think he would also lead the team in hits. I believe he does, although those stats are not available. He also can take a lick, and bounce back up. He also has been known to kill half a penalty all on his own. So J-M...THANK YOU for being an on ice leader. The song years ago was not true...short people ain't got nobody...you at least got me!!
2. Clones Player you wish was never here:
For the longest time, I have despised Conrad Martin. But after a few votes for Scott Reynolds, I re-evaluated and am ready to award this to Scott. What has he done? I cannot remember the last time he scored or even took a deacent shot for that matter. He will not hit and has not looked very aggressive in the corners. I have been watching his play and even his passing is bad. He doesn't seem to mesh with the others on his line like others do. Please send this guy away!!!
3. Play of the year:
Nothing this year was more exciting than going into overtime... being scared that Dov was in goal and couldn't stop anything in a shootout, then scoring with 8.9 seconds left in overtime...WOW !! That was awesome!
4. Game of the year:
There were a lot of great games this past season. 1-0 loss to Dayton, first ever win in Wheeling, the 2 games against Florida, and so on, but just having hockey back in Cincy was exhilerating. The first game of the year was ELECTRIC..It brought back great memories. Welcome back Cyclones!! We hope you stick around for a LONG time!!
5. Worst Referee:
WOW!! If St.Pierre was still around, everyone knows he would win. This is such a toss up. These 2 were even the last 2 refs we had this regular season. Between Ernst sucking off Tifu Thursday night and Nick (pig call) Suey blowing at least 4 cals Fri night who do you give this to? My answer is Ernst. He has NEVER been any good, has always had a beef with Cincinnati and the final straw is getting the team fined for playing 3 Blind Mice, while Toledo plays it all the time and he laughs there. So a big F-U goes out to Ernst!! Suey, your a 22 yr old kid from Michigan...go back up north and do some more growing up. Take care of your wife. I spoke to her for quite a while earlier in the season and at least there's one person in that family that seems to have a brain.
6. Favorite Ref to heckle:
Hands down...Nick (pig call) Suey....SSSUUUUUUEEEEEYYYYY!!!!! Here pig pig pig!! I only wish I would have know it was he that was cutting in front of me to go to the ref dressing room between periods on Thurs night. He would not have made it without eating some glass and some tongue. The first time I called him like a pig between periods as he was walking out...a linesman stopped and was doubled over laughing. He later gave me a puck and said thanks for the laugh..he needed it. SSSUUUUEEEEEYYYYY!!!
7. Favorite Official:
Brad Phillips #66 Linesman...there were no other nominations given to me and at least Brad gives us a puck every game and laughs when we heckle the ref every night.
8. Best fan:
There are many...from Bingo to Rob to Section 60 and everyone in between, but in a little suprise, I would like to give this to every season ticket holder in the house. Without you, and I don't care how many there are, there would be no fan base, no fun at all, and a lot fewer memories made throughout the season. Thank you everyone for a great year. Let's help the boys as much as we can in the playoffs and be ready to go again next year. THANK YOU!!
9. Best player not in a Clones jersey(ECHL):
We have seen a few boys who may have a future. There have been some very good players come thru Cincy and giving it to our beloved Clones. Pandolfo is a great skater, under control at all time and is lethal shooting. Brad Schnell has put up outstanding numbers in Gwinnett. I wish I could have seen him play. That is the only reason I cannot give him the award. Yanny Tifu has KILLED the Clones night in and night out. He has scored on breakaways whil down a man a few times, but seems to get at least a point every time we play. The man can flat out FLY! I'm not sure of his age or history, but I believe he will not be at this level much if at all next year. Yanny...my hats off to you. I cannot stand you but I give credit where credit is due. You'r a damn good player.
10. Biggest Whining Cry Ass Baby:
There seems to be one on every team. We have Starling who I believe cries a lot, but then again, he is the captain and that is sort of his job. No player in my mind has demonstrated the role better than #9 from Wheeling, Grant McNeil. He bitches about everything, then turns to an opponent when the ref isn't looking and gets a cheap shot in. Why hasn't anyone taken his head off? I love it when he gets checked. He looks right to the official for a call and you can almost see a tear in his eye. The man cannot take a hit. SOMEONE HIT McNEIL....AND HIT EM HARD!!!
11. Favorite Goalie to Heckle:
My favorite!! My say is all of them. 5-hole Berkhoel, F-U Fuji, LaCosta, Duckie Naumenko and so on. But I have gotten under one persons skin the most....Yutaka F-U Fuji. I even googled English to Japanese translation and learned to say F-U and YOU SUCK in Jap. Between that and all the Karate Kid stunts we pull while he looks, he hates the first and third periods and it has shown. I know he played here and I do not care. How does one go from ECHL to NHL and back in 10 days? Giving up 5 goals in 2 periods in the N will do that. CATTUBACHEMAE!!! OTAKU SHABURRU!!!
12. Favorite Zip Scene Girl:
Unless someone has any suggestions, I say the curly headed one.
13. Favorite on ice Competition:
The fighting at center ice could have won this if there were two guys who could fight like men. These two swung like Trembley, missing haymaker after haymaker. I forgot to mention the night BINGO cheated in the Beer Chug, and also that one night when BINGO did win without cheating, he won a night at the Wildwood, where his wife got PREGNANT!!! LOLOL But no other compares to the spewing of a man on the ice after chugging a few beers spinning around and running. Wildman saw it coming and the fan club got a front row view of the chunks. CLASSIC!!
14. Lowest Point of the Season:
With a late CHOKE, the lowest point has to be going from first place to third in two nights. WOW...now we have to start out the playoffs on the road in a building and a town not one player or fan in the league likes to visit. Hopefully we wake up and can steal one in Toledo.
15. Best fight:
Watching Avery get his ass whipped knowing he has been working out with Rich Franklin is so damn funny, but not the best of fghts. I was not there on St Patty's day to see Starling's fight but heard it was pretty good. Not good enough hearsay to overrule my decision to give the award to:
3/3/07 Stockton Thunder vs. the Cincinnati Cyclones. Jeff Lang and Greg Stewart square off against each other. Jeff Lang, not typically a fighter, shows he has a pair by not backing down to the taller Greg Stewart. Jeff Lang ends up with his jersey hanging from this belt and takes a few small laps to wind down before heading for the locker room and the 2 period intermission. here's a link to the video on YouTube

many fine picks there heckler, although i have to disagree with the reynolds pick. i know that there was nothing scientific about these awards but if scotty was extremely durable for the team, playing in 68 games and being a +6 overall. that's not too bad for a guy that was usually a 3rd line guy.

and i couldn't help but notice that when i clicked over to youtube to see the stewart's fight in stockton that there was a video of riley day fighting a stockton player. if you recall riley was here for a few weeks back in the fall. we never got to see him fight here, but it looks like he and avery went to the same school to learn how to fight. |

| Thanks Elvis. +6 ain't that bad but he was just lucky to be on the ice when they scored is all. And a 3rd line player? I remember quite often his name being announced as a starter. I don't know how that makes it 1st 2nd or 3rd line but to me if you start, you'r the first line. I just was so unimpressed in his play. |

2. if we're gonna talk about goons then how do you leave goulet out of the mix? in cali the only time chuck sent him out there was to fight (and it wasn't much of a fight, more like him getting his a** kicked). same thing in wheeling. friday he didn't do anything (i am not sure he was even in the lineup) and then on sat he had a fight with bissonette (this time the outcome was more in goulet's favor.) then he sat him again for the sunday game.
at least when brian WAS in the lineup he took (semi) regular shifts,especially towards the end of the season. i'd much rather have a guy that i could use in more than one situation but i guess that's why chuck makes the big bucks. besides it's not like it was a surprise. we all know chuck made his decision way back in the fall regarding brian.... |

again, i want to acknowledge that i know the heckler awards are in no way official, but to all of those that deceided that scott reynolds was the cyclone they wish was never here...how you like him now... 2-2-4 in two play off games. scores the game winner during friday's stalemate and then comes back on saturday to ignite a team that had themselves backed up against a wall in the 1st. with out his effort this team could easily be down 2 games instead of up 2 games. go scotty.
also...heckler, i think we need to give out a secondary award for worst ref to sean reid, the ref from saturdays game. according to hammel he spent most of the season officiating OHL games. he had is head so far up is ass it was ridiculous. he made such a mess of the first period the the echl couldn't even manage to get the game sheet from the first peiod updated until halfway through the 3rd. i watched on the B2 and i can only imagine what it would have been like to see it in person. i'm still trying to figure out how we score on a 5 on 3 while toledo has 3 people in the box serving various combinations of minor and major penalties and they get a player back to make it a 5 on 4. |

| It truly was bizarre, Elvis. I think they gave us 26 seconds of that fiasco back at the start of the 2nd period, but by that time, it was too hard for me to follow, especially with a scoreboard that could only list two penalties per team at a time. |
