Now that the season is over, what ideas for the Cyclones and management for next
year? To borrow the "Heckler's question format:
1. What promotion giveaway did you most miss last year?
2. What promotion idea would you like to see?
3. What idea for the coaching staff to help the play?
4. What would you like changed about the arena?
5. What idea could best help the Cyclones add 1000 to 2000 on the attendance?
Any other questions you want to add is very welcome. Here is my start:
1. Where was Hockey Puck giveaway.
2. Opening night special jersey.Starting with the second home game, have a drawing
by raffle tickets sold for one of the jerseys each night. If possible, have the
player come out before the third period and pull the name for his jersey winner.
3. For the coaches, get the defensemen more involved with the play on offense and not
camped out on the blue-line.
4. For the arena, install a curtain across one end and open up the upper tier in the
centers and the non curtained end.
5. The obvious-reduce ticket prices by at least $3.

For a curtain to be effective, you would need to hang it vertically along the walkway above the lower bowl. But I don't think that configuration would work. People in the restaurant couldn't see, the pressbox people couldn't see, and the luxury box people couldn't see. If you drape the curtain over the seats, what does that buy you??? The space is STILL visible. Hanging a curtain on just one side wouldn't be enough to make a difference, in my opinion.

#2 Also taken from Wheeling maybe a deal on 4 tickets and give away a broken stick from a player for like 39.99. Wheeling also did something like that with the jersey with raffle tickets and loved that idea.

Jevers, my curtain idea has two major sacrifices for hockey season.First, the
current section 60 and Wildman's lair would be behind the curtain.Second, the
luxury boxes on that end would also be unusable on game day along with the arena
entrances at that end. The hope is after a few years when the attendance gets stronger
the drape can come down and even that end would be available for fans. Now looking
at this, would Wildman behind a curtain be a sacrifice ! How about a "TWISTER"
bobblehead or beanie giveaway. We still have our bought Snowbird beanie and the
giveaway 10 year anniversary beanie.

I still have my Snowbird beanie also bags. I like the idea of giving away something Twister-oriented.

For give-aways, I would LOVE to see a Twister bobblehead, or stuffed Twisters for sale.
What happened to trading card night? I would have loved to have trading cards for Desjardin and some of the other future stars.
I will have to think about some other promotions.

For the arena, Dayton has the radio broadcast playing in the concourses. I love our TV's but we need the sound too.

The last site you listed probably has the best ideas. I am already in the process of having a drawstring bag made on my own this summer and I know a lot of people who still have the old water bottles that they gave away years ago! I would like to see both of those items for sale in the merch booth next year!

More stuff:
Cyclone Blankets! We would buy one instantly! My wife wanted one for use during the games, and usually brings one along.
Beer mugs would be nice too. I found three old Stingers glasses in my in-laws barn, and would love to add some Cyclone glassware to the list.

5000 of these are $400. If you set up a booth up front and charged
25 cents each, how many parents would easily be talked into one or more
for their kids.I'm not sure the life of the "tatoo",but what kind of
kid wouldn't show this to all their friends! Even if you ate the $400
and gave them out free, look at the fun the kids would have and the logo
is right out front urging them back. This is MINOR LEAGUE PROMOTIONS
at their best!

Now that's a great idea. The Bombers used to do that. I think they finally ran out of the tattoos this season. The kids love it!

Hi Bags, I printed out your post & will be taking it to the BOD meeting tonight. I checked out the sites too & think that the promopeddlers & epromos web sites gave the best ideas for merchandise.

Thanks!

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

Thanks Susan. All I did was do a yahoo search for "promotional items" and a ton
of sites came up. Opening night schedule magnets and how about a beer mug or
travel mug with the schedule on the side for a giveaway early in the season. This
way every time you pick it up,the schedule is right in your face.We still use the
large mug given out in the 98-99 season and although the league and most of the teams
are gone,it still reminds me of some of the games.
