I know this season is only half done and the team looks great, so how about one or two ideas to make next year better. My first would be to bring the coach back and his great hard working and high discipline team play. The second would be a radio contract for home and away games. |

How about a real NASCAR driver on NASCAR night? I don't give a rats ass about NASCAR, but I do know that the Ducks put over 9600 people in their arena last night for this promotion, while the Cyclones drew their normal crowd.
Is anyone else worried about this team? Right now, I would be suprized to see a next year. How is this team surviving on the crowds they draw? The promotions suck, (a horn for the New Years Eve Party, a cheap seat cushion and 8 oz bottle of pop for NASCAR night), there is no intermission entertainment, and I never see any advertising. I don't want to be the one to bitch, but I love this team and don't want to see it go away. Something better change quick.

| I have to agree. I am worried also. Seems like a yearly event for us. I just wish we could fill the arena with HOCKEY fans. The woman who sat next to us last week, said:" I know nothing about hockey, I am only here because of Nascar....." That was quite obvious by the lack of attention she and her family paid to the game and the amount of times they got up during the play. Ofcourse, they left early and we wouldn't let them get up until the whistle blew. And that is another complaint of ours.....people walking all over the place during play. Dayton doesn't let anyone enter the arena during play. The ushers hold up signs telling people to wait until the whistle. We have complained about this for years....NOTHING ever changes. |

When you talk about real hockey fans, I don't like to admit it but wouldn't Duck's hockey at a higher level be more desireable? This is the reason I feel that management must prove Cyclone's hockey is the better choice. Promotions have been a joke-how about puck night (always a big draw) being 2000 practice pucks with a sticker on them! How about higher prices for tickets and parking. What does Pete Rose and a new baseball stadium promo have to do with hockey? Let's see if all our hockey promotions end up going to the arena football team. This team deserves management to try as hard as they are.I don't see that and I wonder on the future too. |

I must agree. In recent years, I have noticed all of minor league sports diminishing in its promotions and marketing. Over the years, I have noticed how fewer and fewer promotional spots in the market. Yes, there are a few billboards for the hockey teams here (poorly placed, if you ask me), but there are also a lot fewer radio spots/promos, fewer ticket sales reps (I believe, correct me if I am wrong). As well, there are fewer promotions at the games. This has brought in fewer people to the games. Then to save money, they shrink the front office staff (now there's fewer people to sell season and group tickets, shinking the crowds further). To me, it seems like a lot of minor league teams are simply expected to have a loyal following, thus making advertising and PR an expense, rather than a necessity. I was optimistic after last season. Even though the crowds were very modest, the front office only had about 2 months to put the entire show together. With better preperations, I would have expected this season to be better, but it looks as if it is run even more poorly. Am I alone in thinking this. (I have not been able to make it to as many games this year as last). I have spoken with lots of people who say they love going to Cyclones games, but yet they have not been to a game in over 5 years. I really think they need to more activly remind the Cincinnati public that there is hockey in this town (both teams). It will never be as popular as the Reds of the Bungels (unfortunatly) but they need to continue to remind the city that they are around.
I hate to bitch too, but I fear that after next season, there will be no more hockey in this city. I could be wrong, but I don't see the Ducks turning much of a profit either. |

| What really frustrates me is that the Cyclones really had a lot of momentum going into this season. And now, that's all gone pfffflt! |

How much would it cost to bring Snowbird back twice a month? How about an old timers game and bring back some of the old gang. What about a car giveaway. You could go out and get a no frills, but good mechanical used car (lets say $1500). If you get an extra 3000 fans for the game, that car looks pretty cheap to the promotion department. |

For those of you who know me, you know that I am a die hard fan. I still am , but now if I miss a game, I am not as upset as I use to be. I'm just not as excited about the organization as I use to be. Where are all the great things that were suppose to grow the fan base to where it once use to be? I really don't see anything happening. Where are the weekly updates that use to be mailed to us? Where are the game summaries? Marketing is practically non existant. But, I do see ads for the other team. Makes me sick. I have had people say to me," Are the Cyclones still in town? I only see ads for the Ducks." What happened to the Hall of Fame dinner for season ticket holders? Am I asking too much? Something needs to happen to keep the fan base that they do have. I am becoming apathetic. |

| It seems like the organization lost all zest for living after the Daugherty article. |

I keep thinking about that full page ad in the Enquirer around Thanksgiving which was basically a shot at the Enquirer. How many regular size ads could that have bought promoting other games?
BTW, remember the Nov. 23 "Win a Harley Davidson" Night? No, because it wasn't held. In the Community Press, they are advertising Friday nights game as "Win A Motorcycle Night". On the Cyclones website, it is 2,000 Cyclones Beer Mugs (Ages 21+) Post-game concert (TBA). So which one is it? Is it both? Is it neither? Think anyone in the organization knows?

Apparently they do, they changed the website today after the above post.
So I guess that means no beer mugs and no concert. Hey, but we probably get a 1 in a million shot at winning a motorcycle! |
