CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced today they have agreed to terms with right wing Jean-Michel Daoust.
Daoust, 23, played last season with the Cyclones, leading the club with 32 goals and collecting 62 points. Jean-Michel had the Cyclones lone hat trick of the season in a 7-4 triumph over Johnstown on Feb. 17. He also had a five point night (two goals and three assists) in a 5-4 overtime win against Johnstown the night before that. In the playoffs, Daoust netted three goals, including the game winner in game four of the North Division finals against Dayton.
Daoust played his rookie season as a pro with Danbury (UHL), collecting 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points. He helped guide the Thrashers to the Colonial Cup finals in the club’s final season. Jean-Michel played his junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and split time between Hull and Gatineau.
“We are glad to have Jean-Michel Daoust back with us,” Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. “J.M. is a gifted player and I know both he and the team have high expectations for this season. We look forward to his continued development and taking his game to another level.”
Daoust is the eleventh player on the Cyclones roster for 2007-08 (Barret Ehgoetz, Travis Fuller, Greg Gallagher, Billy Irish-Baker, Matt Macdonald, Conrad Martin, Gerard Miller, Scott Reynolds, Chad Starling and Avery Wilson are the others). Training camp for the team opens in early October
