I hope 96.5 keeps the Cyclones talk show and games. I know Max 97.7 has music and Ohio State Football and I think basketball on. Hope something can be worked out.

As someone in the business, it's VERY rare for a modern rock formatted radio station to run minor league sports programming especially in a market the size of Cincinnati.

I only know of one modern rock station off the top of my head that runs any sports programming (There are probably more I'm just not familliar with them,) WXDX in Pittsburgh runs Penguins games.

Hopefully for your sake they honor their broadcast agreement for at least the rest of the season, but you never know with these things.

I didn't even realize it turned into a rock station. I heard it was going to be a Christian station or something.

Rock stations are useless here until we get WOXY back, the best rock station of ALL-TIME, belonging to Cincinnati.

jericho might be able to she some more light on this because he works at a radio station, but i would think that we would have some sort of contract with cumulus the stations owner, so if we paid them, whether it be with cash or advertising, they would have to honor the contract to broadcast the games or at least by the contract out.

In todays paper it says 96.5 is going to be a rock/jock station. They will continue with the Miami and Cyclones broadcast as well as the Two Angry Guys in the morning. They also are going to pursue Xavier and UC games. Sounds like it is going to be a unique station.

Yeah it is the old 96 Rock station returning, which used to compete with WEBN. They play very similar stuff. Good to hear the Cyclones will still be on it though.

It's about time. The last thing this world needs is another station (especially a Clear Channel one) with hate-spewing, lying bigots like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Andy Furman, and the rest of the trash that they had on there. Good riddance.

It seems like a modern rock station (which would have probably a younger audience) would benefit from a connection with the Cyclones (and Miami U), and vice versa. Think they could definitely help each other if they really wanted to.
