Another first time poster... Sorry people!

But I thought it was a fun game to watch last night. The ref was a complete jerk, and I agree that we were owed that goal if it didn't really cross. We were in Section 110 and it was impossible to see anything from that vantage point. I did see them rocking the goal like crazy though. Dov did an awesome job during the shoot out. So proud! And Jason's loan goal was icing on the shoot out cake.

Slapshot---We're getting good at the shootouts and im getting happier with Dov. The Elmira game was nuts!

You must be kidding we only scored one goal. And we got lucky with Dov. He got lucky. I will admit he is improving but the shoot out was lame from both teams. It was also good seeing all the fellow firefighters out for the game. 18 of the guys I work with got a suite for the game. I prefer to sit down near the ice but it is good having your own BATHROOM!

I don't post on this forum that often myself but I would like to welcome the new posters and encourage any other silent visitors to join the discussion.

As far as the goal in question, I am in section 122 and I didn't think it went in either. I was fully expecting them to waive it off but I am happy to get a bad call in our favor for a change.

I have to disagree ARSClone on Dov's action in the shootout. After sitting through
as many of his shootout disasters, he was awesome last night. We all have seen the
nights when a blind man with a stick could beat him in the shootout or even a game
breakaway. Last night he was text book-come out five feet and retreat at the angle
for the block. The difference last night was he dropped his leg to the side on the
ice and blocked the shot he always gives up.Maybe not NHL level, but ECHL and maybe
AHL level of goaltending.

this is for all the people that still have something against dov in net. get off his back for his overtime/shootout performance last season. lets look at this season.

"i'm getting happier with dov." - slapshot
what's to be unhappy about (see below)

"cedrick couldn't have done better" - BAGS
based on this seasons stats he wouldn't have (see below)

"and we got lucky with dov. he got lucky." - ARSclone
just see below. the three consecutive shots that dov stopped, went flying past ceddy in the shootout a few weeks back. THIS SEASONS STATS speak for themselves.

dov is 18-3-0-1 and 3-1 in shootouts.
ceddy is 13-4-1-1 and 0-1 in the shootout.

the key stats are the shootout and OT records. when points are on the line in OT dov is stepping up. in the one shootout that ceddy was in he was beat 3 consecutive times by the same move. don't get me wrong, i'm not ripping on ceddy; he puts up great numbers (a league leading 4 shutouts and 3rd and 4th in gaa and sv % respectively) and wins games as well. it could be argued that ceddy wins in regulation. often, however, heading to OT is not the goalies fault. in fridays game for example, our d made a terrible clearing pass that trenton capitalized on with a shot that few goalies would have been able to stop. if that turnover doesn't happen we most likely win in regualtion.

i'm just tired of people coming down on dov because of last season. if you want to live in last season, we should just pack it up now because we all know what happened to us in the playoffs last season. this is a new season and we are lucky enough to have 2 legitimate #1 goalies. lets give them both the credit and support they both deserve.

Heckler- the dances were hilarious last night, and I think that dude had to be one of the shortest guys i've ever seen on the ice(next to Tie Domi, but he isn't much taller than this guy)

And I am also happy that we have 2 amazing goaltenders. I kinda brought the hammer down on Dov in my mind after last year, but this year he has made a huge impression on me and I really am glad that he has been so good this year, and he's got them nifty pads too.(sorry thats my inner goalie talking)

I mostly agree with your assessment elvis, but I think you have to look at more of those "stats" on a game by game basis than just looking at the sheets. I think the problem with Dov is that he plays better when the opponent puts more pressure on him than when we dominate offensively.

The first half of the year prior to the All-Star break we were averaging about 5 goals a game. We were usually outshooting the opponent something like 35-15. Those were the games where Dov would give up 3 or 4 goals when he faced 15 shots. But with our offensive production it didn't mean anything. Just take for example the first game in Dayton winning 5-4, it comes to mind. Games like last night is when I feel Dov plays his best.

Don't forget also that one of those 4 losses on Dejardins was when he came in to relieve Morris after he gave up something like 5 goals on 10 shots to Dayton (I think we all remember that game). Dejardins came in and got us back into the game and played a stellar one at that, but as it goes in hockey, was pinned down with the loss.

wow Elvis77 you are a beast with the stats lol....I do think Dov is getting better. I barely remember last season game by game anyway .... I think during this shootout he went same side a lot and did the same thing and the one opponent had him beat but jacked it up, I explained it poorly. other than that he is improving. I just like how we alternate, not like other teams and stay with one goalie the whole season.

of course he went to the same side in the shootout (his right/stick side) 3 consecutive shooters dragged the puck from dov's left to right.

I just ment that the last shooter almost broke through. But again you are right. I was in a suite that night and had a bad vantage point (excuses cough excuses)
