14th place finish without him showed he wasn't the problem in San Antonio.

Bags nailed it. Coaching wasn't necessarily the issue in San Antonio. Dave Tallon built a Cup winner in Chicago but it's been a rocky road since he and Santos headed to Florida and San Antonio respectively. Santos got axed and Weber a short time later. It will be interesting see what direction Tallon heads with the organization; from the head coach in Florida, the GM and head coach in San Antonio.

Okay let me ad this to clarify:
Tom Rowe
San Antonio Rampage Head Coach
Chuck Weber
San Antonio Rampage Director of Hockey Operations | Associate Coach

The year before Weber was the Head Coach and so the finish in 2013 was his.
Rowe was the Head Coach last year so the finish is his.
Since both years ended w/ a 14th place finish, no improvement was achieved
with Rowe over Weber. They BOTH failed !

Yep... Chuck's success in Cincinnati clearly did not equal AHL success... plus Florida fails year in year out as an organization anyway. Chuck probably would have been better coaching the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville's farm club)

Totally agree. Hope Weber gets another AHL chance (if he wants) at
coaching. Still think just a bad situation in San Antonio.

I hear Florida is in talks to try to get Dan Bylsma to coach them but I dont see how he would want the job. Their developmental system sucks (the Cyclones being the only bright spot of course) and they will not spend money to get good talent. The only decent players they have are Jovanowski and Luongo and they are way past their prime. If they want a coach like Bylsma they are going to need to do a lot more than just patchwork...

The Florida head coaching job is an attractive job because contrary to popular belief on this board, they do have some talent in the system from their past three drafts. Not all of their top prospects were playing for the Panthers or in San Antonio this past season.

Also from a previous post, Tom Rowe didn't coach the entire season in San Antonio. He came in after Peter Horachek was promoted to Florida as the interim head coach.

I know Tom well. He was head coach of the Albany River Rats when I was involved with the team. The Rampage didn't win a lot of games but they did play hard every night, which is a tribute to Rowe and Weber getting what they could out of what they had to work with.

Okay folks I got a question for everyone. Why can I not find ANY stories
about Chuck Weber being released from his job at San Antonio ? Both the AHL
and even Yahoo show no stories about his release. Okay DH, show me some
proof !

You'll see proof in due time, Bags. On the bright side, he still gets paid until June 30.

As they say, you can always tell a Cyclones fan but you cannot tell them much! :)

So you are now saying a rumor you have heard is he is going to be released
but he currently is still employed. The only reason for posting this is to
take another shot at a Cyclone favorite. When I start a post like this, I
try to include a link to show where my facts came from. I guess The "Lord-DH"
doesn't need to prove his words. Weber in fact may be released as you say
but this hasn't happened yet. Why jump the gun and boast of it early .

No jumping the gun here, Bags. Just because he is still listed on the Rampage website doesn't mean it hasn't happened yet. He was informed at the end of the season he wasn't going to be back and was free to pursue other opportunities.

Some of the players that appear on the Rampage roster on the website have also been told by Florida they won't be re-signed.

There are personnel moves made by teams in April that don't get announced until after July 1.

When Cincinnati Gardens purchased the Baltimore Bandits in January of 1997, it wasn't announced until May 1. But people knew about it.

Okay that's fine but why did you feel you needed to bring this up the
day after we lost in the finals ? I think news like this should be
announced only after it is released by the club in this case. We once
had someone at work who came across a list of future layoffs and released
the news before it happened. As you can imagine, this went over like a
lead balloon. Please keep your inside info like this to yourself until
it's official. Thank You.

I happen to agree with bags an all points, I take no satisfaction from ANY man losing his job, especially at the expense of proving myself right about his coaching abilities, if I remember correctly from previous threads.

I don't doubt for a second that Don has his connections however I would imagine those connections would be short lived if everytime I gave Don some insider information and he posted it all over the internet. Bags is right, I haven't seen an official press release yet, It may be true, maybe not however I don't think it is proper or professional to make such statements ahead of anything offical.....but to each their own.
