Not a big fan of the website design. I'm hoping that's not the permanent change, and is more of a beta test or something. |

Not sure any Cincinnati fan would accept being a minor league affiliate of any Columbus team even if the Cyclones were looking for a new NHL parent. Being considered the little brother to Columbus--or Cleveland for that matter- just wouldn't go down |

There aren't enough people that care for it to matter who the Cyclones might be affiliated with in the NHL. You could randomly poll 500 people on Fountain Square and maybe 10 could name who the Cyclones were affiliated with. |

If you had read my comment Donnie you would have seen I was talking specifically about how fans and not random people would react to a Columbus affiliation. I stand by my comment that Cincinnati fans would have a hard time being comfortable with it as It would make Columbus seem much more of a major league city than Cincinnati is. Given a choice I think any other NHL affiliation would be better received. |

I'm not sure I could disagree enough with this statement.
As a sports, hockey, and Cyclones fan I just want to watch good hockey and have a great time doing it. So I say, "Bring it on!". We know Cincinnati isn't a huge hockey market so having an NHL affiliate so close by can do some great things for the local fan base:
1. Local fans that meet and get to know Cyclones players start to track their favorite Cyclones and hope to see them play at Nationwide Arena. 2. Columbus staff can more easily work with prospects and/or coaches to develop those prospects in the manner the big club needs them molded. 3. Cyclones coaches might likely have more opportunity to use Columbus personnel resources. 4. Possibly greater sponsorships and financial support for player development (equipment/facilities) and marketing from the Blue Jackets to the affiliate in an effort to tap the Cincinnati market. 5. Columbus might start opening it's eyes to the Cinci market and invest in local youth hockey down here too.
I could go on and on about why this would be a good thing, but for the life of me, I can't see this whole "big brother/little brother" belief holding any water.
Based on current affiliation agreements, I can see why this wouldn't happen soon, ..., if ever. But short of personnel or philosophical disagreements, I just can't see why this would be a bad thing.
We basically have a double-A minor league hockey team here in Cincinnati. I don't think there can be any confusion about which team is the "better" team in the two cities. So as long as the NHL Blue Jackets are in Columbus and we have the Cyclones here in Cincinnati, we will always be the "little brother" in hockey. There's just no getting around that so, affiliated or not, we have to accept it.
Having said that though Columbus will _never_ have an NFL, MLB, or NBA team. They did well to get an NHL franchise but the only other top level pro sport they can muster is soccer. So if someone wants to get into a pissing contest over size, there's your ammo.

Columbus Clippers are the AAA Affiliate for the Cleveland Indians!! Milwaukee is the AHL Affiliate of Nashville and Nashville is the AAA Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, so I dont think it has anything to do with how large a market is quite frankly |

Cyclonesdiehard-if you are a season ticket holder & have RSVPd for the special event that's tonight, that's probably when we will find out. |
Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.
