Last night the Cyclones came out and dominated the Icemen coming away with a 5-2 win. It was anight that saw the Boys play well in all 3 zones. Defensively the Icemen struggled to regularly get the puck into scoring areas, Cyclones players blocked shots and generally wreaked havoc on Evansville's game plan, and when there was a breakdown Brittain made the stops. Offensively, the Cyclones controlled the puck for long stretches and did everything Evansille didn't, getting the the puck off the walls and into the back of the net. The transition game was also firing on all cylinders and was pure brilliance for a 1:04 stretch of the 2nd when they lit up Evansville for 3. It was just one of those nights when everything went right for the 'Clones. Hopefully they can carry it forward into the rest of this North Division stretch.
In another post, a lot has been made of the post Christmas stretch that will see the Cyclones play 15 of 16 against the North with 14 of those coming against teams currently below them in the playoffs. The stretch is no doubt an opportunity to create separation and potentionally gain som eground on the top 2 teams that have been on a tear. I figure the Cyclones need to take 22 to 24 points out of this stretch if they really want to avoid making the stretch run really difficult. It seems like every year every team has a stretch when they start stringing some wins together. This stretch is a great chance to do so for the 'Clones. If you've read CycWords over the years (yes I know I've slacked off the past few seasons) you know I love my coaching cliches and it's said the when even good teams start losing they can turn into an average of bad team really quick, but when even an average team gets on a hot streak they become confident, formidable bunch and the points keep rolling in; imagine what could happen if a team with the potential of the 'Clones can start to string a few consecutive wins together... |

Gracel named No. 1 star because he had three points (2 goals, 1 assist), yet he was on the ice for both Evansville goals. What game were the people picking the three stars watching?

I thought the same thing at first. But now that I think more about it, both goals against were Brittain's fault. You must not have been at the game, am I right? |

ART IMITATES LIFE
Nothing new has been posted lately so I was looking through some older posts and the thought that 'Art Imitates Life' came to me again and again....
Remember in 'Caddyshack' when people are in the pool having a good time and getting along and then suddenly there is a 'Baby Ruth' in the pool that spoils the fun for all. I feel like that is what has happened to this message board. I mourn for the old days... |

I think people could be tired of posting because of negative comments/personal attacks by others that are on this board. I know that's why I don't post a lot any more. I know that I'm not as knowledgeable about hockey (even though I've been watching since the 1990 season) but I do enjoy reading friendly responses-not ones that attack people personally. We're not in junior high any more and bullying others is NOT COOL.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

Couldn't agree more Susan. It's what happens when the inmates are allowed to run the asylum... |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

Just ignore the negative stuff, and carry on like they're not even there. |
