I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet. I was just wondering if they're going to hand out suspensions for the fights at last nights game against Wheeling. When I worked for the CSHL, they used to suspend players for one game for fighting after the whistle. I was wondering if anyone knew what the ECHL rules were for that.

Deitsch Cin (fighting - major 47.13, game misconduct - aggressor 47.2, game misconduct - abuse of officials 40.5, game misconduct - fighting other than during periods of the game 47.8) 20:00, B. Irish-Baker Cin (fighting - major 47.13, game misconduct - fighting other than during periods of the game 47.8) 20:00, A. Wilson Cin (fighting - major 47.13, game misconduct - fighting other than during periods of the game 47.8) 20:00
Alot of major penalties handed out for very little action in most cases.How about Irish-Baker getting thrown around by a goon 6" taller and probably 35 pounds heavier.But he wasn't backing down and great to see the goalie right there just in case.

| you missed a helluva srum lol. Line brawl after the wistle. I was really surprised to see that happen because cincy is looked at as the "smart" team in the echl and dont usually do that stuff. With the wheeling guy jumping the bench tho i think it was needed. I agree with bags also.. great to see the new guy ready to step up if he's needed. Matt said last night while he was signing he thinks the guy who jumped the bench will be suspended but wasnt sure |

| Deitsch will get something, no doubt. He instigated his skirmish vs. Stivchenko( I think that's who it was) at the end and got a triple misconduct. I'll guess 1 -3 games. |

| The last thing this team needs are injuries because of post-game brawls, especially to a scrub team like Wheeling. They're a joke, it looked like we were playing a UHL team most of the night. |

There was a whistle with about 40 seconds remaining in the game. If you noticed, Miller was taking the faceoff and Avery told Deitch to let him take the faceoff. Avery challenged Miller before the puck was dropped. Miller skated away instead of being a man and fighting Avery. If Miller fights Avery, then the whole fight after the game never happens. Just my opinion.
My second thought is why was Jason even on the ice in that situation? They had the final change and knew Miller was out there so you knew something was going to happen. What if Jason breaks a hand in a fight? Thats what enforcers are for. Maybe even put Syro out there in place of Deitch. He can handle himself much better than Jason. Turns out Miller left the ice and was replaced by another bouncer from wheeling.
I will say this though, it's good to see the boys will stand up for each other when needed. Rudy was ready to go to even the numbers up if needed. I was kinda hoping both goalies would go at it. It's been awhile since we have seen that. |

| I talked to Cody or "Rudy" after the game he told me he was ready to go if needed. He said thats why he was at center ice jsut in case the nimbers got uneven. And for Jason I didn't see it myself but a friend told me Coach Weber or C-Web that's what us hommies call him said he was very upset and wanted jason off the ice to the point that he almost came on the ice to get jason off. I thought it was funny to see Avery taking the face off and that little punk miller didn't want no part off him. Like I said B4 thats what i like about Avery he don't back down from anyone. he even went after booagard or how ever you spell his name and he out weights Avery by 20lbs and is 4 inches taller. |

| If anyone gets suspended it won't hurt us too bad. We have the division all but locked up and we're plaing the bottom teams for the next couple weeks, so it shouldn't hurt us too much. You gotta fight for yourself and stick up for your teammates whether you get suspended or not. It would be a different story if we had started the whole mess, but we were just rightfully defending ourselves. I would also like to know what "fighting off the playing surface" means. I've seen thousands of hockey games and I've never heard of that. I didn't see Avery fighting anywhere other than on the ice. If anyone knows please enlighten us. I am a big fan of Avery. As was said already he isn't the biggest guy or best fighter, but he can throw down with the best of them. He can actually chip in offensively every now and then. I would much rather see him playing the role of enforcer instead of bonehead. |

| How about that instigator penalty too? That whole situation slipped my mind, but I think it was in the 2nd. I read about that penalty in the ECHL rulebook, but had never actually seen it called in person. Oddly enough, the friend who I was with isn't completely familiar with hockey and asked me about the rules of fighting and I had mentioned it right before this whole ordeal broke out. |

| What surprised me was the Wheeling coach getting a game misconduct...they announced a 2 minute bench penalty to start the third period but not the gamer. I wasn't aware of it until I got home and checked the box score.I just wonder what he said/did for the game misconduct. Oh well, see everyone tonight. |

Suspensions, Fines Levied For
Mar. 13 Wheeling, Cincinnati Game
March 13, 2008
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced the fines and suspensions resulting from an altercation after the conclusion of ECHL Game #753 Wheeling at Cincinnati on Mar. 13.
The Wheeling organization and the Cincinnati organization have both been fined under Rule 47.19. The Wheeling organization was also fined under Rule 70.10.
Wheeling forward Gino Pisellini has been suspended seven games and fined an undisclosed amount under Rule 70.10 Leaving the Players’ Bench and under Rule 47.8 Fighting Other Than During the Periods of the Game. Pisellini will miss Wheeling’s games vs. Cincinnati (Mar. 14), at Reading (Mar. 15), at Elmira (Mar. 17), at Trenton (Mar. 20), vs. Cincinnati (Mar. 22), at Johnstown (Mar. 23) and at Dayton (Mar. 26).
Wheeling forward Aaron Boogaard has been suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount under Rule 47.8 Fighting Other Than During the Periods of the Game. Boogaard will miss Wheeling’s games vs. Cincinnati (Mar. 14), at Reading (Mar. 15) and at Elmira (Mar. 17).
Wheeling forward Kelly Miller has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount under Rule 29 Supplemental Discipline. Miller will miss Wheeling’s games vs. Cincinnati (Mar. 14) and at Reading (Mar. 15).
Cincinnati forward Jason Deitsch has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount under Rule 47.8 Fighting Other Than During the Periods of the Game. Deitsch will miss Cincinnati’s games vs. Trenton (Mar. 13) and at Wheeling (Mar. 14).
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

I agree... Chico was originally brought here with the thought that he would carry enforcement as well. With Jimmy being out after having surgery Monday, we need to take advantage of the other rough guys we can place on the ice during those situations. |
