PRINCETON, N.J. - Cincinnati center David Desharnais is the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for March.

The Quebec City, Quebec native had 12 goals, 31 points and a plus-minus rating of +8 in 16 games in March, giving him 100 points (27g-73a) in 65 games this season. Starting off the month on a 22-game point streak, the 21 year old extended his streak to 27 games (11g-38a), which is the fourth longest in league history. He ended his point streak in a 6-0 win against Wheeling on Mar. 12 where he scored a power-play goal, the game-winning power-play goal and added two assists to tie his season high four points.

Desharnais had a six-game goal streak (8g), which started on Feb. 29 where he scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win at Fresno. He then scored a power-play goal and added another goal for a 5-4 win against Reading on Mar. 7 while ending his streak with a two goals in a 6-0 win at Wheeling on Mar. 12.

On Mar. 19 he registered four assists in a 4-3 win against Johnstown, setting a season high for assists and again tying his season high for points. Desharnais scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play goal and two assists in a 6-2 win against Reading on Mar. 26.

Desharnais leads the ECHL with 74 assists, 38 power-play assists, and 102 points. He leads ECHL rookies and is second overall with a plus-minus rating of +35 in 66 games. He has also played in the American Hockey League where he has an assist and six penalty minutes in four games for Hamilton.

He made his professional debut in the American Hockey League last season when he signed with Bridgeport, registering two points (1g-1a) and four penalty minutes in seven games, after completing his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
