| I think a few of you might of mis-assumed my original post...I wasn't trolling if you will for a fight from a Dayton fan, I simply had read the article about the free agent tryouts and at the bottom it informed the public that the Cyclones will again be celebrating the Kelly cup Championship for 2008 by raising the banners at the October 25th game against Dayton....I kinda felt that it was poetic justice. We accomplished what they couldn't last year despite knocking us out of the playoffs, and Now their team is going to have to stand through a ceremony that they wish they could have had last year. They hung two banners...I suppose our ceremony is going to be a tad longer because we have Three. Sorry if i offended anyone and I certainly wasn't trying to start any bickering on my own teams site with a Dayton fan......Eric |

Eric,you fell into the same trap that we all have-your original post was not
"politically correct"! We all have thought it,we all would like to write it,
but now when one person is offended or can't take the thought in the spirit
it was meant,the finger pointing comes out.I pointed my finger at you but only
because we have posters like you know who that turn it into the ugly mess it has
become. Most of the Cyclone fans will love to point to the banner and remind all
the Dayton fans of what we did and they failed to do.They got that chance last
year and we ate crow for a year because of it.Thank god crow is no longer served
at USBA !!Their is my rant-we are behind you Eric (scuba) 100%,just remember we
live now in a P.C. world. |

Ha, you kids, I swear. You realize the only reason I even jump on stuff like this is to get a rise out of you right?
PC??? This is a hockey message board, so do it up. It's not half as bad as anything that's going to happen during the season. As long as you aren't threatening to kill my family you haven't gone over the line.
You offered your opinion, I came on and countered it. You don't owe me an apology for debating me. Only apologize if you think you were wrong and in this case, I don't think that you think you were wrong. I've said numerous times I wanted you guys to win once we got knocked out.
If it wasn't you specifically that said what I posted in my first post, sorry that I was incorrect. I know we heard it from about 90% of your fan base last year, so if you didn't specifically say it this year, my bad.
Anyway, I've got my big boy pants on. Anything you guys can dish out I can take and don't go**amn worry about offending me, I sure as heck won't be worried about offending you. |

| Won't we have FOUR banners? I would think that both the North Division title AND Brabham Cup title deserve their own banners.... then theres the American Conference title AND the Kelly Cup... that would make four... |

As of June 6 everyone was 0-0-0-0. Only 4 teams make the playoffs out of the North this year, making it the hardest division to make the playoffs in once again. If any of the players, coaches etc on your team decide to look back or rest on their laurels for even a second they will be swept up by the current and have no chance of making the playoffs, let alone repeating as cup champions.
From what I can see out of Wheeling there will be no "gimmies" in the North this year. This division will be the hardest out of any division to play in and whomever makes it to the playoffs alive will have a tough road to travel to get the north to a cup final again.
It's going to be a damn interesting season.
If the Cyclones don't lose Weber and maintain Nashville and Montreal as affiliates, then Dayton will once again be fodder for us.
They may be anyway as:
a) The Dayton organization is near broke and every player and agent knows it. For anyone who didn't know, they couldn't even afford new sticks at one point last season. Weber said as much in his interview at Dickmann's a few weeks ago.
b) Recruiting players to play in Dayton is brutal. No one with any other option would play there. They'll get rejects who can't find anywhere else to play.
c) No affiliation. With the meager salary cap in the ECHL (about $13,000 per week), there isn't enough budget to sign enough quality free agents to field a competitive team. Dayton got dumped by Columbus because they either owed Columbus money or couldn't come up with the money necessary to secure an affiliation last season. This will not help their efforts to secure another affiliation.
Dayton will be quite lucky to match their pitiful record of last season. We probably won't win 55 games again, but we'll be very competitive and our fan base will continue to grow impressively.
Sure, all teams start with the same record.
But, only ONE team is The Kelly Cup Champion until late may or early June of 2009. The only thing I'm "yawning" about is this post. Wow, what a classic "attempt to be snarky" message board response. "lol i only posted that to make you kids mad". You obviously didn't like SCUBA's post so you responded to it. I guess SCUBA is making you HIS puppet by making you respond, then? So stupid.
I for one like to welcome opposite opinions of the usual contingent, and have no problem with it. You should be glad you have a place to do that, had any one of us went on your board and posted anything even remotely close to your posts in this thread they would be deleted in a heartbeat. |

WOW! Who let this guy on here... there are no fair weather fans in Section 60, at least... Jericho, your Bummers didnt do much of anything this season... the Dayton Bummers suck at life as it is..
