Okay, I'm new the board and don't want to cause any controversy, but I have read references to an announcement on February 22nd, but no details. It's speculation of either the Cyclones folding or a new team coming to town...from what I've read. What is this about an announcement and who's making the supposed announcement? (Or is this just a bunch of hogwash). Again, I'm not intending to stir anything, but I would like to know and get caught up.

February 22nd is on a Sunday; who in their right mind would make an announcement on a Sunday? I know of which board you have read this and the person who has been posting this is a few sandwiches short of a picnic. The posts he puts on that board are sometimes funny but don't have any credibility. There are three things I know about that date...1) its my sons birthday 2) TEAM USA beat the Russians in the 1890 Winter Olympics & 3) thats the anniversary date of the first event at the Cincinnati Gardens. So I wouldn't read anything into it and welcome to the Cycward! |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

An odd 3rd post for someone "not wanting to stir the pot".
"A few sandwiches short of a picnic" is awesome, somebeach. I shall be stealing it and claiming it as an orginal!!
The biggest announcement forthcoming regarding anything ice related on 2-22-09 is that it is the last day upon which one can skate on the rink at Fountain Square. |

Gee, thanks Heckler! You're really making me feel welcome here. You caught me. I logged on and registered an account for the sole purpose of "causing a stir" and making your life as miserable as possible. This is my second post and you've already pissed me off. Congratulations! I only posted my question because I'm concerned about the future of a team that my family and I have grown to love. So please excuse the hell out of me for caring. |

Please allow me to apologize in advance for my previous post. Just joined and I'm already adding to the negativity. You'll read nothing but positive posts from me at this point forward. Go Cyclones! |

I don't think anyone expects or wants "nothing but positive posts". My complaint is that people post and repost these rumors without ever giving a source other then "I have read" or "I have heard".
If somebody has a legitimate source for a story they should post the source and we can discuss it. If it is just more musings from the same few people that have every year predicted the Cyclones will fail to start - Will fold in the first month - Will fold halfway through the season - Will fold at the end of the season (begin cycle again) then I think it is a waste of time and board space to report it. |
Get Clones instead of Clunkers.

I agree with what you said. If those people don't have proof, don't waste everybody's time. |

I imagine most everyone (except those who are new like GoClones who wondered and asked about it) probably didn't pay much attention to the rumor of an announcement today. Especially those who have been reading the board where it was posted for any length of time... those of us who do, know who NOT to believe on there.
With all the high school and youth hockey at the Gardens, any of us who are involved in that and go to the Gardens would have already known there was no truth to there being any announcement.
The Gardens website does have an article about the history of the building (which I don't think would be considered to be an 'announcement' - they have articles on there periodically). It's the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Gardens and the first event held there - which happened to be a hockey game. It's at http://www.cincygardens.com for those who have an interest in the history of hockey in Cincinnati. |
