I know one thing,it would be hard for me to support any team-Cyclone or not- that is owned by the Robinson clan. I remember the treatment they gave Doug K. when we were packing their arena. All this franchise needs is some marketing people that know minor league sports.Look at Dayton and Cincinnati and you probably see the same problem,a fan base not willing to pay $10 prices for double A hockey. Why is it so hard to realize a full house at $8 average makes more money than 20% fill at $12? |

"I know one thing,it would be hard for me to support any team-Cyclone or not- that is owned by the Robinson clan. I remember the treatment they gave Doug K. when we were packing their arena."
Ditto!
I have been a staunched supporter of the Cyclones and have renewed my season tickets each year ......... but a return to the Gardens would end my support! I too remember the treatment given and also the words spoken by a 'certain someone'. I can not and will not ever step foot into the Gardens (not even with free or comp tickets to ANY event held there) as long as the Robinsons' own that facility! I would also go as far as to request that the banners I created for the Cyclones be rather destroyed that hang from the rafters of the Gardens.
"All this franchise needs is some marketing people that know minor league sports." ....... AND the support and backing of management to follow through and put those marketing plans/ideas into action!
****************** But all this is conjecture and I will take a wait and see approach. There is so much that ownership can do if they really take the time and learn from the mistakes made and correct them and go forward. So much CAN be done........all it takes is the willingness and the determination to succeed! |

Wouldn't it make sense to have an advisory board made up of Season Ticket Holders, Fan Club Members, the Fan Club Board and "casual" fans to assist in marketing and promoting of the team? Who knows more about the team/city/sport than the people shelling out the $$$?!?
A 20-member thinktank would assist the ticket, promotions and public relations departments in determining the direction of the resurection of the franchise. |

No, because that would absolutely kill it. STH, fan club members, etc., do have a right to voice their opinions but any organization would be stupid to take & implement every cockamamie idea.

Mmmmm... perhaps the folks whose job it is to market teams? Call me silly but it's a job best left to the professionals. There's more to marketing that just shouting out "Hey, we've got a team". |

| I said ADVISORY, meaning they would make suggestions to the so-called professionals in an organized forum. The organization only has to listen, not obey! |

| like Gonz stated... hire the right people to do the job in the first place who already have an idea of what is right for the team- marketing wise... and who is already relating with 'fans'. |

I agree with Banner Lady and Gonz. We are not professionals and we have made suggestions, and some of them have helped, but REAL profeesionals are needed. I know that the organization is trying to make this work. But, I have a bad feeling..... I think that my hockey days in Cincinnati will be over. I also will not go to the gardens....even with free tickets. Too many bad memories. But, I am not going to bring that all up, AGAIN!!! I know one thing....I am sick and tired of all the rumors...the ducks are leaving, etc. Whatever happens, happens. I will miss the Cyclones. Enough said. |

Why was it that the combo of Doug Kirchhofer and Terry Ficorrelli ( sorry I killed the spelling) managed to pack the Gardens with a sport that was gone for years. The biggest mistake Doug K. did was let Terry go and replaced him with the former Reds marketer. We started losing out on the promotions and the fun level started to slip. If the team is hurting so much for money, why not cut some deals to get ads on the boards. The only thing I have seen positive towards fun this year was bringing in "Slick Rick". If the team is willing to sell season tickets for $7 instead of $9, how about dropping the $9 to $7.50 each. Season ticket holders will still be saving $.50 and getting the free parking and the other perks.Bring back a "kids zone" behind the nets and load the kids up with thunder sticks, foam hockey masks and kids t-shirts.How about $1 cokes and popcorn to go with the beer. |

quote: Cincinnati, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, in response to published reports, announced today that the team has filed a letter to suspend operations for next season. The letter does not bind the Cyclones organization to sit out the season, but rather gives the team the option to play or suspend play for the 2004-05 season.
The organization is still exploring opportunities for next season. The letter was filed with the ECHL office to comply with league by-laws. If the letter had not been filed, the Cyclones would have committed to competing in the ECHL in the 2004-05 season. That commitment cannot be made at his time so the letter to suspend operations was delivered to the league office.
"Both our organization and the ECHL are upset that this confidential letter has become a matter of public discussions in certain cities," said Matt Dunne, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Bank Arena. "We are exploring all of our options, and we hope to have a team at the arena next season."
The Cyclones play their final home game of 2003-04 on Friday vs. Reading. Game time is 7:30 p.m. It’s fan appreciation night featuring Cyclones water bottles for the first 2,500 fans, free rounds of golf from Crooked Tree for the first 2,000 fans and more giveaways for Cyclones fans.
Cyclones group tickets are available at (513) 421-3222 extension 144. Single game tickets are available via U.S. Bank Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger locations. To charge by phone call (513) 562-4949 or visit www.Ticketmaster.com. Check www.cycloneshockey.com for all the latest news on the Clones.

Well on one hand, thank you Mr. Roof for at least sending us the message letting us know where we are at. I don't think we can survive a season off, but they are still giving us hope that a season could happen. My guess is if the Ducks pull out or a business can enter the picture,we might still have a next year.If not,DON'T LOOK FOR ME AT ANY DUCKS GAMES! I will drive up to Dayton with my Clones jersey before I give the Robinsons any of my support. If this is the end, thank you Section 60 for the chance to talk with everyone here and my apologies if I upset anyone with my comments. |

| Well, look at the bright side, with the team folding, you know that the CinciNational Enquirer will at least put the team on the front page. |
