Malcolm Cameron, the Coach that took the Cyclones to the Conference Finals in 2003, is back in the ECHL with the Long Beach IceDogs. Rick Adams (the ECHL guy, not the USBA Centerplate guy) covetted him ever since the Columbus Stars debacle, but he honored the rest of the contract of the current coach. Once the season was over and the contract terminated, he approached Malcolm to join the California team. Meanwhile, Cameron finished the 2003-04 season with the CHL Corpus Christi Rayz.
Former Cyclones Greg Hewitt, Joe Cardarelli & Matt Noga followed Coach to Texas, so expect them to move to SoCal this fall.
The ECHL schedule is suppose to be out the middle of May - hopefully the Dogs will make a road sweep through the Northern Division!
I talked to Heather last night. She and Brett are doing great and are excited about heading to California! They'll spend the next 4 months back in Nova Scotia, then the family will head to the Left Coast. She wanted me to send out "hugs & kisses" to all of the Cyclones fans and all three of them miss us deeply.
Best of luck to the Camerons and I hope we get to see them soon!
