What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
This venture has had failure written all over it from the very start. It was under capitalized, under staffed, and the pricing strategy showed that the ownership hadn't done any due diligence whatsoever on the Dayton hockey market or economy.
My sympathies go out to Dayton hockey fans. I hope that this debacle known as the IHL Gems is not their last go-round with hockey. It would be a shame if it were.
This franchise is similar to the 1979-80 CHL Cyclones who followed the Stingers when they were folded when the NHL and WHA merged/expanded. The CHL Stingers were an afterthought which was hastily thrown together and lasted until December of their first season. The ownership blamed the high rent charged by the then Riverfront Coliseum ($7500/game), but the average crowd of around 1,000 didn't help matters any.
Anyone want to buy any vouchers for the Gems games? I got 'em. Cheap

If the Gems do go belly up, the Cyclones could benefit on the ice.
Former Cyclone and Bomber Greg Labenski still has some mileage to spare in him. He would be a major improvement to our power play. He's an exceptional passer and has a pretty potent shot.
If he (GL) is willing to work for less than he was making in Dayton and Weber is willing to cut him a little slack on making practices (he lives in Dayton with his wife and newborn twins), then this could be a mutually beneficial relationship.
