Hamilton newspaper says Sanford out through at least the first series. Jeremy;s play was tremendous but hope we find a real backup.

Nice article on Cedrick from same paper: http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/752178

That is standard procedure for an emergency back up goalie. They are paid on a per day basis so because we dont play till Friday they release him and don't have to pay him. Unless they get someone else, they will resign him Friday and then release him again on Sunday.

Ebugs can only play if the starting goalie is hurt and cannot continue. They cannot relieve a starting goalie because he is not playing well or the coach wants to rest him.

There are only a certain amount of consecutive days you can have a EBUG signed. That's the main reason teams release, then re-sign them.

Don't look for help anytime soon - due to immigration issues, they can only sign american born players who haven't already signed a pro contract...and Chuck said tonight there are none out there at this time...

AARGGG- That sucks!
Smith has been stellar so far, but I remember last year both Ryan Nie and Loic LaCoase at some point got lit up so bad Chuck pulled them.

The positive I try to pull from it is this. Too much talent is always a good thing, except when it's not. I'll explain, I have always thought when you reach the playoffs and you have two very equal goaltenders you start playing hunches When Enrico Blasi played his hunch last week it backfired big time for the Redhawks. At least with only having Smith as the option right now there is no second guessing and wondering if the right call was made. That being said I'd like Sanford to get healthy and have Robert rejoin the team, but I'd only take the game of Jeremy's stick if he was routinely getting torched.

But on the other hand, a plan "B" would be nice just in case.

Chuck said on WEBN this morning that he's signing a college goalie to back-up Jeremy this round, but it's still Jeremy's net to lose...

Landsdowne has played and if I remember right has actually won a game or two. But he hasn't played at all this year.

He has not played for them or anyone in the U.S. EBUGS can't play if dressed unless the starting goalie gets hurt. He did play a few games for a few years in England where he is from but his last game was in the 2006/07 season I believe.

My understanding is he works for the Cyclones in his real life and acts as the EBUG when asked.

To dbc-Lee Landsdowne runs the video in his "real" job.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.
