I'm bummed with the loss, but I really believe we had no business being in the overtime to begin with. Idaho had a goal disallowed which should have been counted and we had a goal that play should have been stopped. That being said, the team again slept-walked through the first 1 1/2 periods and then turned it on in the end. Their game winning shot is what we all keep yelling at our players on the power play- SHOOT THE D@# PUCK !!! We finally caught up in shots with alot being multiple rebounds right back into the goalies body. The best line last night was Robinson,Ortiz and Benson. With a little more scoring ability, they could have had three or four goals. I hope Ortiz lands an ECHL contract with us next year. His hustle is great on the ice.
Bags, I saw the goal for us alittle differently, the one that was allowed. We sit real close to one another seeing i'm in section 124 so maybe a couple of sections over gave us a better view but I saw the Idaho "Head" goalie in the famous snow angel position(hoping is is lying on the puck). The ref was in position the whole time and was watching an uncontrolled puck lying beside of him like the official at the end of caddyshack watching the golfball right before it went into the hole(for caddyshack fans like me) it was a good goal from my vantage point. I was very surprised it didn't get a quick whistle. As for the disallowed Idaho"Heads" goal. The net did infact get lifted off the moorings however it fell back into place. I suppose if you take the rule literally then you call the play dead, however it was far less than some of the goals against us throughout the years where a player smashes into our goalie on a breakaway only to take out our goalie, net as the puck slides over the goal line. |

I agree with Catch22, watching us buzzing their net but not being able to get anything to go, gave me a very ominous feeling going into the second OT. You just knew one lucky bounce was going to happen for them and they would convert.
On the goalies, I think you start Mayer again, with a short leash. He's been stellar since that ugly first period in the Conference Finals, and I think he'll have something to prove in game four.
I'm thinking I would go with Mayer again as well. Short leash certainly but if we get a complete game from the Clones then scoring for either team would be at a premium. Has Smith pitched a shutout yet? |

Also glad to see someone finally get caught for throwing the pieces of chair onto the ice. Really people, this is ridiculous! Grow Up!!!!!
What section did you see folks getting caught throwing arm rests? I actually notified an arena security type and he told me he couldn't do anything about it because he didn't see the kid lob it.....WTH?
The whole removeable arm rests to me seems like the worlds biggest oversight EVER. |

SCUBA, I don't think the arm rests are intended to be removable. I think overtime the glue holding them on has just worn down and now some can be easily pulled off.
As for the employee not doing anything, that's a damn shame. If you can, next time try to seek out one of the folks in the black or blue button down shirts with radios. They're the supervisors.
Great coach, great team, horribly run arena. |

That game was one of the most physically exhausting games I've ever witnessed in person. Having your team come back from a 3-0 deficit only to tie and send it to overtime was draining enough, then I practically stood the entire 1st overtime; working myself into a frenzy every time the Clones had a chance to put the game-winner in. Even though the Clones lost, that was one of the most memorable hockey games I've ever experienced.
Even though Game 3 was a big punch in the gut, I am still optimistic. I have faith that this team will come out for game 4 and play the game of their lives. We've seen it time and time again this year. This team feeds off of adversity and always seems to have a knack for delivering when it is most needed. These guys know what's at stake. Game 4 is their opportunity to maintain home ice and a victory would give them a shot at winning the cup in the very last home game this season in front of potentially the biggest crowd of the season. The Clones have every reason to come out and play their very best game tomorrow night.
Get your rest tonight and be ready to go tomorrow everybody. If you thought game 3 was draining, I think game 4 will make it pale in comparison.

The Idaho goal that was disallowed was a case of the rule saying that play is dead when the referee -decides- it is dead, not necessarily when the whistle blows. This rule helps account for maybe the ref not being able to get the whistle to his mouth quick enough or the whistle being frozen, etc. In his mind, the moment the puck is covered and dead, that is the moment the play is dead - so if it pops out in the between time, it's a No Goal.
The Cyclones goal he at first waived off as not crossing the goal line, but play was not dead. Play was still live so when it squirted in, it counted. |

yeah, the ref even made a motion like he was going for his whistle when Idaho was complaining about it. On the Cyclones goal, I was sitting in 119 and had a perfect view. The puck was loose and visible the whole time, so it was a good goal. |
