I can't believe I got to post that. You guys are all either in traffic, or at the celebration because you don't have a wife who got off a plane from London and went straight to the game.
Way to go Clones! Let's make it two in row. |

Two ways of winning in hockey--talent or grinding. 2008 team won primarily with talent --this team out grinded their opponents. 2008 team was expected to win it and lived up to the expectation. This team was one of 5-6 teams that could have won and exceeded the expectation.
A real pleasure to watch Chuck and Dean mold this team to the style they needed to win. Congrats to all involved, coaches, players, management and the 13,438 that showed up tonight. See you all next year |

Amazing! If you would told me the Cyclones would be 2010 champs when the playoffs started I would have thought you to be crazy. This team would not, could not, and never gave up! This was the sweetest gift I have ever received from a sports team! I knew the 08 team would win it so that was great. This championship is bitter sweet, and I can't believe it happened! Way to go CYCLONES! |

We won the cup, and in such dominating fashion, against a team that dominated the league all year... which makes this one so much better than 2008, when WE were the ones that dominated! |

Not bad for a team I gave no chance of getting past South Carolina, then Charlotte, then Reading !!! I was most nervous with a 2-0 lead coming back from Idaho . Okay I kept my promise- I didn't say anything about Smith's injury. Thanks little bird for tipping me off after I posted my "Forgotten Heroe" topic. |

WOW! What a game...What a series...what a playoff run...WHAT A SEASON!
Okay, everyone who thought at the beginning of the playoffs, or even the beginning of the season, that this team would win another championship raise your hand. Oh put your hands down! This is more than anyone expected :<)
dbc, I 110% agree with you. The 2008 team and this one were as different as night and day. That just shows what Coach Weber can do with any players he recruits.
I don't see how anyone can argue this is truly the best team in the league this year. They beat the defending KC champs in S.C., the # 1 seed in Charlotte, and a Reading team that virtually had an AHL roster. Then for the cup they beat the team with the best record in the league. WOW...
And let us really give credit where credit is due...Ray Harris and Kristin Ropp. Ownership always takes a hit when a team does poorly but seldom gets credit for championships. They obviously give Coach Weber the latitude he needs to put together the teams he does. Make sure if you attend the celebration tomorrow you thank them for what they have done. If you don't make it, send them an e-mail or letter.
Ok, I have to make an appointment for a heart transplant after this season so until my next posting...

I was told he got a concussion in the Reading game. My guess is when they did the slam in the final minute of the game. Since I hadn't heard anything from the media, I kept it quiet. I still wish he could have gotten a little time in the nets during the finals. Too bad Reading- your hopes of keeping us from the title failed ! |

They say that watching your team win a championship never gets old...and they're right. This year was every bit as satisfying as it was in 2008, if not more so. I really don't know what else to say right now; other than I'm proud to be a Cyclones fan. June 5, 2008 and May 21, 2010 are dates that are forever etched in my memory.
Others can take all the potshots they want about the Cyclones, hockey, hockey fans, minor league sports, etc., but I don't care about that today. My team has just given me what every fan of every team wants--a championship victory to celebrate. As the Gershwins wrote, and Frank Sinatra sang, "They can't take that away from me."

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CINCINNATI CYCLONES!! 2009-2010 KELLY CUP CHAMPS!
The crowd was loud and energy generated was undeniably felt by all!! I can honestly say that the game last night was one of the best I have seen. Have to give the Steelheads credit, they gave it their all and I see why they were the top point leaders of the regular season. But they came up against a team fed by grit and determination and a no quit attitude!
See everyone at the square on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!! |

WOW I did not know i could hold my breath that long. When the season started , my family and I thought well it looks like we are in for a long grinding season with no hope of making the finals. Never again no matter how they falter out of the gate will we think that we are settling in for a season with no hope. They have proved there is always hope and with enough heart a way . Congratulations to the whole cyclone organization. This morning it still seems surreal but all i have to do is look at my new tee shirt and hat to know it was not a dream but it was the CYCLONES LIVING THE DREAM. WOW |

Thanks Cyclones for giving us yet another championship. From the coaching staff to the players these men never gave up and they carried themselves with class and determination. They could have easily folded down 3-0 to Reading but they dug deep and made and epic comback. The last part of their playoff schedule was insane....8 games in 12 days. You could tell the legs weren't quite there but nonetheless they made believers of all of us. It's been said winning a second championship is never like winning the first. While both will ever remain special to me as a fan, I will always remember how this team refused to quit. Thanks again Cyclones for a memerable year!!!! |
