The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with veteran forward Barret Ehgoetz for the 2010-11 season.
Ehgoetz, a Kincardine, Ontario native, returns for his fifth year in Cincinnati. He owns 21 team records including the career scoring lead (233 points), games played (271), assists (152), shorthanded goals (eight) and shots on goal (696). In the 2009-10 regular season, the Cyclones Captain logged 69 games - scoring 23 goals and 40 assists.
"I am thrilled to bring back Barret for another season," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "Anytime you can have someone with his leadership ability and dedication, it's a major plus for your club. He's a proven winner and a tremendous leader. I'm very excited to have him in our locker room."
The five-foot-nine, 170-pound forward was one of only six Cyclones players in last season's Kelly Cup Championship run to skate in all 24 playoff games. During that stretch, Ehgoetz finished second on the team in goals (nine), points (17), and plus/minus (+7). He netted the game-winning tally in Game 7 of the American Conference Finals against Reading, which clinched Cincinnati's spot in the Kelly Cup Finals. It was also an historic goal, as the victory made Cincinnati the sixth team in pro hockey history to overcome a three-games-to-none deficit to win a playoff series.
A 2009 ECHL All-Star, Ehgoetz was the only member of the Cyclones to have played in all four seasons of the Chuck Weber era. Prior to going pro in the spring of 2005, he spent four years at Niagara University - skating in 141 games, scoring 166 points (71 goals, 95 assists), a total which still stands as a school record.
"I'm excited to get back to Cincinnati for another season and continue to build on the success we've had over the last few years," said Ehgoetz.
The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers. Discounted ticket packages for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) extension 3 or visit CyclonesHockey.com. |

I think he will go to that level when he is done playing. I don't think he is ready to stop playing just yet. |

Sweet! Great guy and helps add continuity which we really need right now.
I'm pretty sure Eggo knows he's a career minor leaguer. He's simply not big or fast enough to move higher, but he still gets to play hockey for a living and there isn't a damned thing wrong with that.

Completely agree! Especially at this level, where players often come and go, its great to have someone like Ehgoetz. Especially when he's not only making a name for himself among local sports fans, but is involved with the community through his charity's. |

Agreed. But, I wouldn't doubt that he gets a few games in with Rochester as a reward for his role in making Weber successful. Interestingly enough, Eggo's lone AHL game came as a Rochester Amerk.

Great to see him coming back. I see a #11 jersey hanging from the rafters sometime off in the future! |
