CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forwards Mathieu Aubin, Brodie Sheahan and defenseman Kevin Roeder for the 2010-11 season.

Aubin, a 2005 fifth-round Montreal Canadiens draft pick, will be back with Cincinnati for the fourth time in his career. He has logged ice-time with the Cyclones during parts of the 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2009-10 seasons amassing 100 points in 94 games during that stretch. He is one of just three players to have been part of both Cyclones Kelly Cup titles (Barret Ehgoetz and Scott Reynolds are the other two).

After being acquired in a trade with Bakersfield last March, the Sorel, Quebec native skated in nine regular season games with the 2009-10 Cyclones. He appeared in all 24 postseason games, notching 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists).

"Mathieu is a guy who will provide some offense for us," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "He comes with a winning attitude and is accustomed to success. The more guys you have like that in your locker room, the better it's going to be for your group."

Brodie, brother of Cyclones defenseman Brock Sheahan, joins the Cyclones after a four-year career at Holy Cross where he was among the top five leading scorers in each of his final three seasons. In 2007-08, the Lethbridge, Alberta native led the Crusaders with a career-best 20 assists and 33 points.

"I expect Brodie to have an easy transition from the college game," said Skalde. "I know he's very excited to start his professional career. I believe having his brother here and having that familiarity will make his transition a lot easier."

Roeder, a Miami University product, will look to improve upon a rookie season marred by injury. The Glenview, Illinois native missed 32 games in 2009-10, but did manage 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) in his shortened season. He scored his first professional goal in a 3-2 loss to Kalamazoo on November 14, 2009. During his four years of college hockey with the RedHawks, Roeder was a mainstay on the Miami blueline, accumulating a +50 plus/minus rating in 152 career games. He was one of Miami's team captains for the NCAA National Championship Game in April, 2009.

"Roeder is another tremendous competitor," said Skalde. "What excites me about him is that he can be a steady influence on our defense. His fearlessness back there is also big plus."

The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers. Discounted ticket packages for the 2010-11 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.

I believe this gives us a backline of returnees Roeder,Krantz, O'Hanley, Sheahan plus Sawyer from Toledo who adds some real power play skills. This is even before any assignments from the two affiliates!! Sounds like a very very solid group.

Anyone know how we got Sawyer away from Toledo? With the small latitude the teams have in salaries, I would be surprised if it anything to do with money. He had a great year for Toledo so it sounds like it was his choice to leave and not their choice to let him go. I have heard that their coach can be very difficult to work for

JC Sawyer is in camp with the Admirals, so that might have something to do with it. Brett Robinson is up there too. I wouldnt be surprised if both of them got 2 way AHL-ECHL deals.

Things are really shaping up, and it sounds like there is a chance we'll see Robinson as well.

We already have more than a "core" group and should get some talent from the affiliates to back it up.

Lets just hope the 'tenders are quality and Skalde can plug and play with the call-ups as well as Weber did (and I think thats the key to all of the success we've had).

I feel darned good about the season.

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama.

Perhaps Toledo is looking for a defenseman that can actually play defense. This guy flat out scares me from a defensive standpoint.
