Cyclones Ink Rookie, Send Six Players to AHL Training Camps

Date: 09/29/2010

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with rookie forward Chris Minella for the 2010-11 season. In addition, six players who have agreed to ECHL contracts with the Cyclones are participating in AHL training camps this week. Those players are spread over four Triple-A teams Rochester Americans, Milwaukee Admirals, Peoria Rivermen, and Manitoba Moose.

Minella will make his professional debut this season after a four-year collegiate career at Notre Dame. During his time with the Fighting Irish, the Aurora, Colorado native collected 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 113 games. A three-time NCAA Tournament participant, Minella was a member of the 2008 Notre Dame team that finished as the runner-up in the NCAA Championship Game. He spent two seasons as a teammate of current Cyclones defenseman Brock Sheahan.

"Chris is a big, strong kid coming from a very good program," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "I've heard nothing but good things about how he competes and his willingness to play in the tough areas. I'm excited to see him on the ice."

The list of Cyclones players in AHL camps is as follows:

Ryan Del Monte Rochester Americans (Cyclones AHL affiliate)
Chris Morehouse Peoria Rivermen
Brian O'Hanley Rochester Americans (Cyclones AHL affiliate)
Matt Pierce Rochester Americans (Cyclones AHL affiliate)
J.C. Sawyer Milwaukee Admirals (Cyclones AHL affiliate)
Brock Sheahan Manitoba Moose

The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers. Discounted ticket packages for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.
