I realize there are different schools of thought on "Goons" and fighting in hockey and without creating a huge debate on the issue, what do some of you think about the Clones current roster as far as there being a tough guy that can keep other Goons in check?
Morehouse is a scrapper no doubt, and one of my favorites, but is he sufficient alone? |

| I'm not quite sure we have anyone that fits the enforcer role in the current roster. Morehouse is great at agitating the opponents, but he's not exactly a total 'tough guy' role player in that sense. |

An "Enforcer" is a guy that nobody wants to deal with other than the opposing enforcer. He's the guy who's mere presence on the bench can keep the opposition honest. Probert and Domi for example.
Hans and Justin did a nice job with this role.
An "Agitator" is exactly that. Rather than being reluctant to drop gloves with him, the opposition tends to WANT to get a piece of him and will often take penalties or get off their game doing it.
Reference Pat Verbeek and Matthew Barnaby. You love this guy when he plays for you, and HATE him when he plays for the bad guys.
Morehouse is a classic agitator.
I'm not sure if/who of these guys is an enforcer. We'll see.

I'll be updating CycWords tomorrow, but since I'm not planning on addressing the tough guy role directly I'll toss my two cents in here.
I think Iaquinto was pinned for that roll but reports are that he appeared a bit raw for an ECHL team and looked a little lost during the early days of camp and has been released.
After watching the last 2 days of camp, I'm not sure a true enforcer will be needed. This years team has some serious size and skates equal to last years squad. If they stick up for each other as a unit they probably won't need a true fighter. Morehouse agitates, but has also proven that he can go toe to toe with the toughest this league has been offering as of late. Hans was such a solid fighter that teams often avoided fighting him.
That being said, if Coach Skalde finds someone who is regarded as a true heavy weight, I've got nothing against it, provided the guy can actually play the game a la Benson and Johnson. |

lol, that has to be one of the funniest things I've read in awhile...a lot of things come to mind when I see that name, but "enforcer" isn't in the top 25... |

I've never seen the kid play, that was based on his numbers which are PIM heavy and the organizations emphasis on the fact that many of those minutes came from fighting majors.
Regardless, he's not here anymore so I'm guessing I'd be in agreement with you had I seen him play or even skate at camp. |
