CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman James DeLory has been assigned by the Rochester American of the American Hockey League.
DeLory, a 2006 San Jose Sharks fourth round draft pick, comes to the Queen City after spending the preseason with Rochester. Prior to skating in the Americans training camp, the six-foot-five defenseman played for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League where he posted a pair of goals and one assist in 36 games last season. DeLory also spent many years playing in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, collecting 94 points (17 goals, 77 assists) in 215 games.
He'll join the rest of the Cyclones as they battle the Elmira Jackals on Friday night to kick-off the 2010-11 regular season at 7:45pm. Hear the game live on CyclonesHockey.com beginning at 7:25pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule on Saturday, October 30 at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.

Looks like we have a true enforcer now. From what I have seen and read, it looks like he is a true heavy weight and can mix it up quite well.
I think we need someone like him so that the other teams dont push the Clones around. He and Morehouse should work nicely together.

Yeah, I get a little nervous when the enforcer is a d-man.

I mentioned this on CycWords...
According to hockeyfuture.com he's listed as D but has played F the last 2 seasons. They say his skating is lacking. I will be keeping an eye on him. I'm all 4 tough guys as long as they can play. |

Don't forget who is sending us DeLory - Coach Weber and the Rochester Americans. My guess is he would be weeded out if he didn't show actual hockey ability. I would be worried if he was being sent by way of Milwaukee.

Don't get too wrapped up the in the Weber Worship. Things don't exactly work that way all the time. The guy is obviously a Panthers property and they seem to be pulling the strings on where he goes. Last gig was in the CHL.
Even if he's the slowest guy on the team and is a defensive liability (and I hope he isn't), I'm still OK with him being the 10th forward if he is an effective enforcer. From what I've seen of the ECHL you MUST have that role filled in some way or you pay a price. There are lots of guys at this level trying to work their way up via being a tough guy. That's just the way it is.

I agree Catch22. I read an article today from Toledo where Vitucci is boasting about having such a tough team this year and that no one is going to push the Walleye around. It sounds like they are puffing their chests a bit already and that means they will try and rough us up.
The article gave alot of attention to Adam Keefe being their enforcer.
The opening line states that the Walleye will be more gritty and less pretty.

Hey Catch...not related to this thread but since you don't have your email enabled and thought you might enjoy this, given your Alabama connection:
