Now that Gary Glitter has been arrested on child sex charges, do you think that the Cyclones will ban Rock n Roll Part 1 just as the NFL did? Will there be a new song after a Cyclones goal?
I was just wondering the same thing recently. I know the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL (who appa rently originated it as a sports anthem and added the infamous "were gonna beat the --" you know the rest portion) have banned it. I completely agree if they do decide to cancel the song, but it will feel odd for it not to blast across the PA system after every goal horn sounds.
Also, it's actually Rock n' Roll Part 2. Part 1 is just vocals, the "Hey song" anthem is Part 2.
I also wonder if they will still be playing the famous Rudy "No one comes into our house and pushes us around" quote clip on the titantron.
I hadn't heard about Gary Glitter, and until this topic would have been hard pressed to tell you who he is or what that song is called. Not playing it would seem like omitting "Thunderstruck" from the Cyclone games.
The NFL banning Rock & Roll Part 2 was just plain silly. I hope the 'Clones don't get caught up in this political correctness gone mad. It's just a song, not social commentary.
You know it's going to be very quiet if we ban every artist's songs who have a police record in their lifetime.I can go along with banning a raceist song or one with extreme foul language,but this is plain stupid.In Las Vegas they celebrate a goal with "Viva Las Vegas" but that's for an obvious reason.It's just not a goal without "We're gonna beat..."!
