If money was unlimited and the management wanted to help create the excitement
feel,a curtain could be installed over parts or all of the upper level like
Indy used to do at Market Square. Sometimes I wish we would block off all of
one end with a curtain and sell the upper one end and sides. Please everyone
don't be mad if we don't always cheer or do the "wave".Excitement hasn't been
helped by the lack of hockey flow do to all the penalties being called and the
"lost" crowds in the big arena.I still have confidence we will make this work. |

I thought about a curtain as well. But, I imagine cost is the factor on that. Not only the cost to buy and install, but to maintain it, set it up and take it down (union crews do all that), and to have some security presence for people getting behind it (install gates, etc.).
Great idea, but probably impractical. |

| Interesting thought, about the cost and money involved, i've always wanted us to have some type of inflatable Cyclone the players could skate through, The fireworks were always fun, except for the IHL All-Star game where the 1st period was played in a fog, I always felt that we under-used the jumbotron, if we only had some type of computer graphics to use.....My question is, I thought the Neiderlander group was some type of super promotion conglomerate that could afford to spend alittle cash on the Cyclones....I've always felt that you have to spend money to make money. I could forgo the W.W.E night, the Nascar night if we could spend money on an experience that was fun each night and generated intrest, just a Simpletons view on things. I remember days of old where we threw boxes of skyline at Snowbird, we actually threw dead frozen fish on the ice during the playoffs, You cannot tell me that the atmosphere generated years ago was because of an old building. How about the days where we laughed at people who couldn't throw a winged nerf football back to snowbird, where has all that gone? |

He may not be Snowbird, but I still laugh at the people who can't throw it back. Hahaha. |

I loved Snowbird as much as the next Clones fan (and maybe even more since I knew the guy), but I think Twister does a great job night in and night out. His costume makes for a better mascot since he is actually a tornado, and I think he does a good time both during and before games, i.e. high-fived and pictures with the young fans, joking with the older ones, mooning the goalie, beating on the glass and throwing the vortex ball.
I know no one specifically said Twister is doing worse than Snowbird or doing a bad job, but I have heard some people in the past not being so pleased with Twister. I on the other hand think the oppisite.

Snowbird was great! When he did his thing out on the ice, he didn't just look like a guy dressed up in a bird suit. He could have easily been a real penguin in a Cyclones jersey skating around.
That said- I think Twister does a very good job as well. It's got to be hard work to do that and pull it off. |

Hello all. I'm new to posting on Section 60 but have been a viewer for a while. I've also had season tickets since 1994 so I'm pretty familiar with the "good ol days" and how we got to where we are today. Getting back to the attendance issue, I just was wondering if anyone has any idea how many people the Cyclones need to average in order to keep the team afloat? I think the weekend games have been ok but the weeknight games are what really concern me. I know back several years ago I heard that 3000 people was the breakeven point for attendance. If this is still true, the weekends are going to have to be fairly well attended to make up for the weeknights.
Regarding Twister, I think he does a good job. If I recall correctly, the reason Snowbird was replaced by Twister was because there was a royalty fee that had to be paid to the "owner" of Snowbird's rights and it just wasn't cost effective to pay that. Given that, nobody will be able to perform like Snowbird, but Twister is a pretty good alternative. |

| On the topic of good weekend attendance, what's up with White Out/Pack The House tommorow night? One of the highlights in the abysmal last season was that we got a solid effort for Pack The House Night. Why? $5 tickets for every seat in the house. Hence why the house would attempt to be packed. I haven't heard anything about discounted tickets for the game tommorow ... just that the first 3,000 fans get the white t-shirts hence the "White Out" part ... I honestly don't think a plain-looking t-shirt is going to draw big ... what happened to what actually drew, cheap tickets to pack the house? Or maybe they should have seperated the two promotions ... |

| Just wanted to clarify myself when I dreamed about the Cyclones of Yesteryear and posted about it, Some how it might have been construed that I wanted Snowbird back....I think Twister is just fine |

| Where do you find out about the give-aways? Not that that influences my attendance, but it does help persuading the casual fan. The Cyclone website seems very thin on such info. |

| The web site has the promotions listed and they announced the t-shirts at previous games, that's how I found out. Last season we even had a commercial for Pack The House night. |
