I just read that the Sabres purchased the Amerks. I wonder if the Clones will stick with the Amerks?

A deal that's been flying around the rumor mill for a few weeks has finally come to pass as the AHL Board Of Governors announced today that they've approved the transfer of the Rochester Americans to the Buffalo Sabres, thus making the Amerks the minor league affiliate of the Sabres once again according to Hockey Night In Canada's Jeff Marek.

Lots of questions to be answered. Do Cyclones continue with Florida affiliation? If so, where will that be? If not--with who or just with Nashville? If the latter, means more players need to be recruited/signed by Cyclones directly.

Man, is Pegulia single handedly trying to save hockey in that area? First he donates $80mil to Penn State to move their program to DI, then buys the Sabres...now Rochester...wow.

Florida is in discussions with Portland (where Buffalo had been) to be its AHL affiliate. The new Panthers head coach, Kevin Dineen, coached in Portland for six years and has indicated to Florida GM Dale Tallon it's a great place to develop players.
