Click here for the full release
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Saturday vs. Trenton: Garrett Suter’s power play goal with just 27 seconds to play in regulation gave the Cyclones a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Titans in front of 3,667 at U.S. Bank Arena. It was Suter’s first career game-winning goal as the Cyclones earn their first come-from-behind victory of the season.
About Friday in Chicago: A late-game rally by the Cyclones was snuffed out by the Express, as they held on to win a 5-3 affair at Sears Centre. Anthony Luciani earned his second muti-point game of the season, registering two assists in the loss. Chris Cahill, Joel Champagne, and Daniel Koger each tallied for the Clones.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
A Busy Week Ahead: After a very light early schedule, this week things amp up for the Cyclones as they play four games in the next seven days. They open up their on-ice action tomorrow morning against Toledo for Education in Hockey Day presented by Ohio Lottery. After that, they’ll play a “three-in-three” against Reading, Chicago, and Toledo starting Friday.
They’ve Got the Power: Cincinnati’s power play unit continues to shine in the early weeks of the season. Through eight games, the Cyclones have the third best unit in the league with a 26.1% efficiency rate. In fact, the Cyclones have earned the best home power play ranking in the ECHL, collecting three power play goals on eight chances.
Late Game Magic: Garrett Suter’s game-winner came in the final half-minute of regulation on Saturday. Cincinnati has been a very strong third period team this season, outscoring their opponents 11-7 in the final frame while outshooting them a total of 95-70. In fact, eight of those 11 third period goals came in the final 10 minutes.
