| Well first congrats to our team for being in last place in points in the ECHL. Second - who is ready to see Pickard go? Third - at the least the games are fun to go to right? |

| One reason that we are last is because we have only played 12 games and some have played 17 games. Pickard is not going anywhere until at the very least after the year because he is in his final year with Nashville on his entry level contract, he was thrown into playing four straight without a break but his GAA is down considerably from last year, which is a victory in and of itself. |

I had a blast at the recent home games but I am waiting for the odds to take its turn with him. I was almost sick during the shoot out the other night and seeing him play so far out of his goal was turning my stomach over. ( I know most goalies play out but his problem is he can't get back in time like others and always gets beat )
Just wanted to see some concerns from others that find areas they could improve in. Love the team and love the area and atmosphere! That's why I am a full season ticket holder for 2 years and a third planned! |

Chet is playing much better this year and hopefully will continue to improve. He totally lost his game last year, but he wasn't a first round draft pick for nothin'.
We do have games in hand, but it's also true that we aren't winning the games we have played. The team has looked better lately though, and possibly lost the last couple due to an opposing goalie having a career night and a tired goalie in the home net. Maybe.
It's early, and the season is an enduro, not a sprint so I'm not ready to punt yet. My biggest current concern is a complete lack of continuity on the bench that'll likely only get worse as the usual injuries and call-ups start to pile up as the season progresses. Skalde didn't go a great job with that last season, and we don't have very many proven ECHL contracts on the roster.

Didnt see the game in Toledo but saw both other games last weekend and Chet was fine. Three games in less than 48 hours is not what you do with a goalie. As far as coming out of the net, that is exactly what he is suppose to do--cut down the angle. Every goalie at any level is taught to do that. As a forward I would love to see the goalie backing up into the net or staying there. Chet is fine.
The issue continues to be at the other end where we have scored more than 3 goals in regulation ONCE all year and that was when we got four PP goals in the third period at K-Zoo. Even in our recent 3 game winning streak, we never scored more than 3 goals in regulation. The PP has been productive but even strength goals per game has been awful in spite of great team speed and being third in the league in shots on goal per game. I really feel the offense will come out of its funk soon though.

I think DBC hit the nail on the head. Chet is fine. He's not the same kid that was here last year. He's in better shape, much better positionally and quicker. In the Reading game, the Royals scored 2 pp goals, that's just what they do. Chet made some saves as the game went on that he probably would have not stopped last year.
I'm giving the team a pass on the Toledo game on Sunday, not only was it the final game of a 3 in 3 but the bench was extremely short (they had Liambas playing D for crying out loud).
I'm a defensive 1st type of guy so I'm always going to say it can be better but over all they've been good in their own end. My issue is in the offensive end as well. This team has some really skilled guys on it and IMO is capable of scoring a lot more more than 2 per game. There's no reason they shouldn't be putting up 4 a night on a regular basis. They do great in transition but once established in the offensive zone I'd like to see them use the skill to work the puck down low to get it right to the front of the net rather than constantly working it low to high for point shots.
Yes it is early and there are games in hand, but they've only won 1 game against a team with a .500 or better record(Reading). Yes the games have been close and they have carried the play in most of the games. However, December is going to be a critical month. Starting the 9th and ending the the 30th the Cyclones will play 9 games all against the North Division (Toledo 3 times, Chicago twice and Kalamazoo 4 times). If they can't get over the hump to start winning games consistently, they could find themselves in a world of hurt. |

Low to high is what they did last year as well. It seems to be what Skalde wants to do.
The problem is that those are lower percentage shots (and the team's shooting percentage reflects that) and we don't have Coffey and Lidstrom on the point taking them.
As I said before, I'm not punting yet, but we do have more talent on the ice with better goalie play than we had at this point last year and the W/L results so far aren't much different. By the end of december we will know if it'll be a fun spring at the arena or more heads in hands. We'll also know if we'll be welcoming a new coach soon.
