TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Walleye (7-9-0-0) erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to rally past the Cincinnati Cyclones (5-7-0-2) by a 3-2 final score in front of 6,181 at Huntington Center on Friday night.
Late in the opening period, Cincinnati grabbed a late lead when Mathieu Aubin tipped in his sixth goal of the season past Toledo goaltender Carter Hutton (W, 28 saves, 6-6-0-0) at the 15:13 mark after a great pass from Daniel Koger. Thanks to that tally, the Cyclones held the 1-0 cushion after 20 minutes to play.
After a scoreless middle frame, the Cyclones added an insurance goal at 7:43 of the third period as Jonathan Hazen wristed home his first professional goal to give his team a 2-0 edge. However, the Walleye would rally back; at the 10:26 mark, Joey Martin lit the lamp to pull the Toledo within a goal. Then, at 16:53, Adam Estoclet sent a wrist shot over the blocker of Cyclones goalie Chet Pickard (L, 24 saves, 4-6-0-0) and into the net for the game-tying tally. Unfortunately, the rally was completed just over two minutes later by Walleye Captain Kyle Rogers, who deked through the Cincinnati end and back-handed a shot over Pickard for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal – making it 3-2 Toledo, who won it by the same score.
The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:
First Star: Kyle Rogers (Game-winning goal for Toledo) Second Star: Adam Estoclet (Goal for Toledo) Third Star: Joey Martin (1 assist for Toledo)
The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena next Tuesday, November 29, when they welcome the Greenville Road Warriors to Downtown Cincinnati. It will be the first Big Beer Tuesday of the season, with $2 24-ounce Molson and Labatt Blue flowing all night long. Secure your seats now by calling 513.421.PUCK or log on to CyclonesHockey.com. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones).

We'll show Plante. Make him sit on the bench while we run Pickard into the ground (or this case ice) ! Does the saying "Cut off your nose to spite your face" ring any bells. Skalde, step up and get rid of the loser or convince him to play. |

The game sheet from last night had 4 d-men listed and 2 skaters short.
What the hell is going on? It's not like we're good enough to throw games away by skating with empty spots on the bench.

The schedule was light this week. While I raise an eyebrow to the decision to go with a tired Pickard over a non-motivated Plante last Sunday I can understand it. This week, with a game Weds, an off day Thursday, a game Friday and then nothing until Tuesday, asking Chet to play all of them is far from unreasonable. |

Injuries and call ups. In back both Foss and Suter are injured, leaving us with 4 D and forcing Skalde to play Liambas at D (He played there up until late in his Jr career). O'Hanley is on assignment for what could be a lengthy stay in Worcester.
Up front Eve's in on 21 day IR and there have been a myriad of call-ups. Even getting one guy back from somewhere would be a big help.

The decision to go to a 12 game package was a good one.
I mean, I love the team, but how many times this year have I read about about players not wanting to play or not wanting to be here? Even if the talk is all rumor and speculation, its still talk that Cyclones fans, at least not this one, are used to hearing.
Its not inspiring. I have a 12 game package and I have yet to go to a game and I am not inspired to go to one.

Sorry Elvis but I disagree. You know way more about the team and hockey than I do, but I've seen goalies be overused and turned to scrap. Best I remember was Steve Briere. We used him about 8 straight games and at the end of the run couldn't stop a beach ball from 20' away. Maybe in the NHL or maybe during the playoffs, but ECHL level should be no more than 4 games in a row. |

So it's Thanksgiving and we can't manage a full bench due to call-ups and injuries for multiple games already? Really?
Remember what I said about all of these affiliated players and very few Cyclones contracts potentially being a curse rather than a blessing? Hell, even I didn't think it'd bite us in the ass THIS soon.
And I heard a rumor that a potential future ECHL hall of famer is sitting around town with nothing to do. I'm wondering how many games we'll play with a short bench before someone in the organization has the sack to make a call. |

Almost 3/4 of the players we have had this year are under AHL contracts so no surprise to me why they do not want to be here, that is why you need a good core group of echl contracted guys that are playing for the next level, instead of the players being sent down and have an attitude about it. |

| All I heard the last year was how Nashville and to a lesser degree Florida didn't send us anyone and our team was boring and had no scorers. Now I hear the unbelievable complaint that they have sent us too many!!!. Get grip on it. I don't know of one minor league player who doesn't want to get to the next level and is satisfied to have an ECHL contract. At least this year we have a number who have the potential to go up and the the good ones push themselves to get back there or prove they belong there. I would much rather watch this team than last's years team made of of ECHL contract players. |

You didn't hear complaints about "not enough AHL talent" from me last season, and you never will.
That is ALWAYS a double edged sword, and what we are going through right now is the bad side of that sword. Not enough ECHL level vets to give you a stable core while injuries and pouters swirl through the revolving door.
Unless there is a MAJOR change in what is going on, we are looking at another .500 year and likely missing the playoffs (or getting lucky and backing in like last year).
As I've said 100 times, this is a development league and one penalty we pay for our $12 tickets is that the success of our team is a distant 3rd place to the success of the AHL and NHL teams above us. THATS why a solid core of ECHL level players is crucial to the product we get to see not sucking. That and a coaching staff that can manage the revolving door that will always exist.
The fact that we have Liambas playing D and have skated with a short bench and a pouting "prospect" goalie sitting on the bench for a 3 in 3, THIS EARLY IN THE SEASON, does not bode well at all. If we've learned anything it's that player availablity gets WORSE as the season progresses, not better. Maybe we'll trip and stumble into Brian Foster again. Something good needs to happen, that's for sure.

| I don't know personnally if the issue is all the call ups. Yes, I know he is a name from the past, but under Chuck we still got slammed with call ups, and he had the knack for finding players in nightclubs or uncharted islands. We all know what the ability to find talent is all about when you are short. It is nothing new to the team, only the ability to handle and successfully deal with it. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |
