Brian assigned today, Interesting dilemma on what to do now. Cyclones cant unilaterally get rid of Chet and if they cut Fogel with the way he has played he will probably be quickly signed by someone else and not available when Brian goes back up--which I assume he will at some point. That would leave Chet and Goalie X. Hope they can talk Milwaukee into recalling Chet and having him try and work out his problems there with their coaches leaving Fogel here as the backup. Glad to have Brian back though

I wouldn't expect this to last long. Obviously I hope it does, but I wont hold my breath.

The Panthers sent Markstrom to San Antonio, so im guessing he will take over the starting roll, with Dov backing up, and they are sending Foster here so he gets playing time.

Since Markstrom is recovering from surgery im guessing they want him to get his legs back in the AHL. Hopefully Foster sticks around a couple weeks. But yes - they need to do something about Fogel. Im not 100% on the rules, are they even allowed to carry a 3rd goalie and just scratch him for games? I would assume so as long as they are within the roster size limits.

I asked Brunker about who stays between Fogal and Pickard with Foster back.

His reply was that the Cyclones would carry 3 goalies.

We do have roster space for 3. I was a happy fan that Fogal is staying for when Foster goes back up.

Do they place one on IR? I know thats a stretch but I don't know how you take up three roster spots with goalies. If the affiliate was crying about Pickard not getting playing time before, wait until we have Foster AND Fogal.

Because of call ups and injuries there is room for 3 so there's no need to IR one. Once a few guys come off IR something will have to give though.

There will be no complaining that Pickard wont get playing time. Even with all 3 of them, I would venture to say the playing time will be Foster, Pickard, then Fogal. They know they need to keep the affiliates happy, or they will find another team that will. They have a long steady relationship with Nashville and I hope it continues.

Long steady relationship with Nashville? That's one way to describe it. The Nashville affiliation has been a one sided waste since it's inception. I wouldn't lose a second of sleep if it were replaced next season.

I disagree with the fact that the Nashville/Milwaukee affiliate is one sided. Dov Grumet Morris in 07-08, Max Dainegult, I am not going to worry about the spelling, Jeremy Smith, have been excellent goaltenders, Gajewski and Pickard have been exceptions, but I will place Pickard above Gajewski. Bryan Schmidt, Reid Cashman, TJ McElroy, Leaderer, Jason Jozsa, Suter is under an A contract, have/were solid d men when they were here. Obviously at forward Van Guilder, Hunter, Mueller if it wasnt for his amazing game early in 09-10 may have been here longer, Joel Champagne played really well here early in the year and he is playoff eligible, Ben Ryan before he got hurt played well in the three games earlier in the year, Robert Slaney has his moments, lietch and McLean did not want to be here or in lietch's case played horribly is only pro year. Milwaukee also signs players to ahl/ echl contracts which is good for us as well. It just goes back to injuries and who they can send down if any at all. Nashville/Milwaukee/Cincinnati all enjoy the friendship and that's what matters, not what we as fans care to think, but they have sent us really good players this year at times but definitely in the past.

Personally, if I had my choice and had to lose one of the two, I would rather have kept the Montreal affiliation and gave up the Nashville one. I'm not saying the Nashville has been bad, but Milwaukee has been notorious for calling players up to not even suit up for games. This year hasn't been as bad, but we haven't had the talent as in years past either. IMO...

I would agree that the first three years of the Montreal partnership worked obviously well, but the last year we received just Meyer and Lacroix. Obviously key players for the Cup, but not a lot of help. And then with the coaching and management changes it was a mutual decision to part. But if they kept up the 06-09 style I would not partner with anyone else. So far, take Chuck out of the talk, the Florida partnership is working pretty good, especially this year, now being able to see an NHL goaltender in the ECHL;)

@BP2011 - Dov was originally signed by Chuck in 06-07.

Tj McElroy was acquired in a trade from Idaho, by Chuck in 07-08 and re-signed, by Chuck for the 08-09 season.
The same goes for Van Guilder and Mueller who were both originally signed by Chuck. Mueller was destined for the AHL but since MKE didn't sign him straight away it limited Chuck's chances to possibly sign a different player.

The Dylan Hunter acquisition sent Brett Motherwell and futures (in the form of Paul McIlveen) to Utah. The deal was a net loss for the Cyclones as Hunter only played a handful of games for the Cylones. Granted Motherwell didn't see action in Utah and McIlveen was not a good fit in the locker room but given the Grizzlies wanted Aubin, Ehgoetz or Sproat it could have been an awful deal had McIlveen not been here.

I'll give you Cashman and Josza who were instrumental in the 09-10 playoffs, but Schmidt wasn't really noticeable until the playoffs in 07-08. Defenseman shouldn't be backchecking, they play should be coming to them and the only Dman I can recall backchecking more than Schmidt is Rory Rawlyk.

While I like his play Leaderer is nothing more than a serviceable ECHL caliber defenseman. Suter and Aronson are average at best.

While talking about the duds, let's not forget the deer on ice that was Ian Mckenzie.

We'll probably have to agree to disagree but I see what MKE sends us solid ECHL level players and then they call up the likes of Koger over they're own guys. Add in that Skalde has to factor in how many players he's going to get from above when making up his own roster and those guys take spots from quality free agents.

Suter is average at best, but Aronson ill give the benefit of hte doubt. He has the potential to be something special. He is 20 years old and this is his first year of professional hockey. Be happy we have him at all. He moves the puck very well from what i've noticed.

It's not his puck moving that makes me give Aronson a low rating. It's his play in the d-zone which is about as bipolar as it comes.

McElroy was under an AHL contract with Milwaukee after he got re signed with the clones, just check the transactions, that's why I included him, Dov in 07-08 was the same AHL contract and assignment to Cincinnati after a re signing. But I do agree in that Milwaukee sends us great echl players, but when they get a chance in the A they sit in the press box, that is what causes a negative to any affiliation.
