The Cyclones were able to win tonight on the ROAD over Dayton 4-3 in the Shoot Out (at Hobart Arena in Troy, OH). The win puts us alone in FIRST place in the North Division. In other news, back-up G Chad Collins was released today and emergency back-up "Jason Riley" was signed.
Very comfortable way to enter the new year of 2007 for the Cyclones, first place. They now get a long 9-game break before our two biggest promotions at USBA next weekend.

a win is a win, but late period goals keep costing them.
i always had the feeling that collins wasn't going to be around long. maybe they'll bring the 'truk'r back, or at least sign a goalie that is taller than 5'2" |

Pssst, guys...
Anaheim, CA - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired goaltender Sebastien Caron, right wing Matt Keith and left wing Chris Durno from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Bruno St. Jacques and right wing Pierre Parenteau. All three Ducks players will report directly to Portland, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
What perfect timing they have. :) |

I was wondering about Aneheim because their NHL goalie got roughed up a little
and I figured that would be the last we saw of Dov. With the release of Collins,
I expect he'll be back.As for last night's game,it looks like it was a good one.

I went over to Portland's site to look for any sign of Dov coming back.No
luck but I did find this that should tell how he's done on the AHL level:

| it would be great to get dov back, but i'm a little skeptical. it looks like the anahiem organization is getting their goalie situation squared away and that should leave dov as the odd man out with a chance to return to cincinnati. however, i'm not sure about the terms of his contract or try-out agreement with portland. i know he went with nothign more than a try-out agreement, but since he played, i am assuming he had some kind of contract with them. if this is the case, who's contract has more weight, portland's out ours. i would guess that dov would be sent to portland's AAA affiliate, if they have one, rather than being an out right release. if they do release him, i would assume he is on his way back. |

| Caron is not a bad pick-up for Anaheim. His record would show otherwise, but I thought he played solid for Pittsburgh when they had him and he played in the back of a terrible team. |

| Unfortunatly for all us Randy Petruck fans I don't think he'll be returning. I saw him this summer and asked him what the chances of him coming back are and he flat out said NONE. Apparently the Clones offered him a tryout and he turned it down. He said he loves hockey, always will but he's done playing. So...lets hope to get Dov back soon :-) |

We do still own his rights...
Riley was released today, btw. Not that we need him at the moment or anything.
The Pirates now have Caron, Maxime Ouellet, AND Dov... They already sent Marsters back to the E... I think things are working out in our favor now. =) |

| Okay question now...Do you go back to playing Dov and Cedrick every other game or keep Cedrick as the main goalie, playing him 3 games to Dov's 1 game? |

| i'm not sure what they will do if dov is sent back, but i think the best strategy would be to go with what minnesota did when they had roloson and fernandez....alternate unless one of them gets a shutout. it would be a great way to keep them competitive without overworking either of them. |

The Cyclones have not had a "problem" like this since the old Lorenz/Chabot combo.
