HOFFMAN ESTATES , Illinois – The Chicago Express (33-26-7-4) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (33-27-2-7) by a 4-1 final score in front of 3,663 at Sears Centre on Wednesday night.

For just the fourth time this season, the Cyclones allowed the first three goals of the game. At 3:50 of the opening period, Maury Edwards mistakenly shot the puck into his own net, giving the Express a 1-0 lead. Maxime Gratchev followed with a goal at 7:29 from the Cincinnati slot to jump ahead by two. Then, at 9:07, a Cyclones turnover allowed Stephen Delisle to get the puck at the blue line and feed Devin DiDiomete in front of the Cincinnati net; after sidestepping a stick-check, DiDiomete lifted a backhand shot past Brian Foster (L, 23 saves, 14-11-1-1) to make it 3-0 Chicago at the first intermission.

After somewhat of an offensive stalemate in the second period, Anthony Luciani wrapped the puck around from behind the net and buried his 24th goal of the season through Chicago net minder Rob Madore (W, 27 saves, 7-3-0) to make it a 3-1 game after 40 minutes.

The Express pulled back out ahead by three goals just 4:10 into the third as DiDiomete fed Delisle and he sent a wrist shot past Foster, making it a 4-1 score. The Express would win it by the same total.

The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena this Friday night when they play host to the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm. It will be Cincinnati’s Largest Fish Fry AND Kids Jersey T-Shirt Night presented by the Plastic Surgery Group. Fans can enjoy fish sandwiches and $1 beers prior to the game on the outer plaza at U.S. Bank Arena. In addition, the first 1,500 fans ages 2-12 will receive a FREE Kids Jersey T-Shirt.
