As a Cyclone fan, I have already said my piece about road record so,,
1) As a season ticket holder, thanks and congrats to the team for the home season. Tied for the second best home record, only watched them not get points in seven games, and watched them mount numerous comebacks culminating in tonight's game. A really entertaining year for the home fans.
2) Congrats and thanks to Mathieu Aubin for his 30 goal season ending in such dramatic fashion. It has been fun watching his game grow over the years. Hope the Captain is back
3) Congrats and thanks to the Clones for knocking the Wolves out of the playoffs. Had to be a tremendous let down not winning in regulation but the team showed real character pulling out the win. Dont like Chicago brand of hockey at all but Rob Manore put on one of the greatest goal tending performances in the third period that I have ever seen at any level. I sit behind the east goal and he had at least 5 unbelievable saves in that period. As Reading won, it didnt hurt our playoff hopes and it was truly worth the price of admission.
4) Finally thanks to all the others who contribute their thoughts here. |

I'll second the great home season and the praise of Aubin.
Aubin has matured into a very fine hockey player. He tied for 7th in league scoring and goals notching 30 goals to go along with 38 assists for 68 points. He was also a team-leading (by far) +25 which is quite an accomplishment on a team which scored one more goal than it allowed.
I hope that Aubin hasn't been cast by those who make personnel decisions as an ECHLer for life. He has progressed on so many levels since his NHL deal expired. Skalde said that the Bridgeport (AHL) coach thought very highly of Aubin. Hopefully he can land an AHL deal for himself for next season.
The game last night was standard 2011-12 Cyclone home hockey. Outchancing the opposition by a wide margin and allowing some fluke goal (or bad goal) against and then a great comeback. For all of the Skalde naysayers, if you didn't enjoy the hockey WHICH YOU SAW, then I would suggest finding something else to do with your time. You saw lots of goals, lots of wins, lots of comebacks and lots of physical hockey before Liambas was injured and Vaive was recalled. Next season don't count on the Cyclones going 26-7-3 (.764) and winning 55 out of a possible 72 points. Even without Chet Pickard.
I had a very enjoyable season and it's always a bit bittersweet when a season ends regardless of records. I enjoy the company of those of you I see at the games, the staff at US Bank Arena and the coaching show and interaction with the coach and players.
An enjoyable summer to all.

Although the team came up a little short of their goal, it has been fun. We can agree to disagree about Coach Skalde, but that's what makes this board fun. We can have differences of opinions without getting nasty with each other. After all, whether we agree or disagree with something, there is one common thread... we all love this team and want it to be successful.
We have the best professional ownership and staff in the entire league, and there is no doubt they will do what they think is best for the organization. I will bet there aren't to many people on here who will disagree with that.
God speed and everyone have a GREAT and SAFE off season! |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |
