while we lead the league with the best penalty kill, the guys are really lacking with the man advantage. in 204 opportunities we have only capitalized 31 times, that's a staggering 15.2%. sure, tory being on IR hurts but he has only been out of the line up for the last week or so. it seems to me that we spend too much time passing around the perimeter looking for that perfect pass or shooting lane. whatever happened to screening the goalie and just getting shots to the front of the net. the last couple of games i've noticed that only 2 of the 5 guys on the ice are active on the PP. i don't think i've seen a pass to the "back door" when rory or john slide in from the point.
with the offensive players on this team, the PP should be a lot better. think of all the close games that have been lost on nights when they failed to convert PP opportunities. personally, i think the guys have an outstanding chance to make the playoffs, and even win the division, but if the PP doesn't start producing, if could be a short playoff run.

| Actually, his post makes pretty good sense. Especially at home it seems as though the Clones attempt to make too many passes, we need to go to the net more, I'm up for them setting it up as well, but we've watched our share of shotless powerplays, we need to find the lane and fire in on net, one thing i've noticed alot around the league is rebounds by the goalie. shoot one toward the net, and not just off someones shin pad, as Barry Melrose says "Good things happen when you go to the net" |

I agree with this. It frustrates me because it always seems like we have four guys on one side of the ice, with none in the slot. Then we win the puck behind the net, but the only pass is to someone on the goal line along the side. No one is in the slot. You cant score from the goal line.
As well as the Cyclones move and pass the puck, we really need someone to crash the net. If it doesnt work, or the pass isnt ther, reset and try again. |
