OK, first off I really enjoyed the game last Saturday night. It was basically an AHL game and the speed and skill was a significant step above what we normally see. Well played hockey by both teams.

BUT...

My concern is that the team will keep releasing players like Penner in order to make room for players from TWO AHL affiliates, and when the lockout ends and all of those players go back up... Uh Oh. What kind of gaps will the Cyclones have and where will the players to fill those gaps come from?

We're seeing the upside of two affiliates right now with a really skilled bench. But we'll eventually see the downside. The lockout won't last forever.

We can only hope that other teams will have similar issues.

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama.

How many players on the two AHL affiliates would definitely be in the NHL if there were not a lockout? Most AHL teams will only lose 2-3 players when the lockout ends. Oklahoma City is the team that will be hit the hardest when the lockout ends as they have 5-6 players that would be in the NHL with Edmonton.
