Sticking with mainly the day to day cyclone jersey line excluding special events, I am trying to work up a collection of jerseys, and with ebay's help I have been quite successful thus far. I have noticed however a bit of randomness or out of synch in the jersey line, and was hoping you all could help make sense or put this in some chronological order for me.
What I mean is, going by "generation" in cyclones jerseys, we start with our present day colors which are white w/ twister logo, red w/ twister logo, and black w/ cincinnati. I have also seen the black w/ twister logo worn by the sales people, and a few fans, but first question is: Have the cyclones ever wore this jersey - the black w/ twister logo - in a game? All current jerseys are made by SP, and extras/specials for their special events seem to have all been SP as well ( military night, throwback, pink in the rink, etc. ) and seem to have been nicely done by SP if I might add.
Now the big questions, the generation before present. I see mostly Bauer out there. The three I own, a white, black, and yellow, are all Bauer, however I noticed different tags in the yellow then the white and black. The black and white also have a sewn on bauer logo while the yellow has a screen print style logo.
After getting a little interested, I started searching and noticed that along with bauer, I have found the past generation jerseys made by not only bauer, but what appears to be an OT sports, SP and CCM.
Did SP begin the Cyclones era jerseys at a point in the old generation? I am assuming these were sold to fans or maybe even worn by players at the time for a year or two.
Also, I notice some red jerseys of this past generation around but very limited or few like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cincinnati-Cyclones-IHL-Bauer-Hockey-Jersey-Size-Medium-/380531980156?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item589979377c&nma=true&si=8uqaE9yn2J6GV6rtOzPyGqQIm8U%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Were these worn by players? If the red was, that makes 4 jersey types they used if it sounds right - Black, White, Yellow, and Red during this time?
If I understand it right, the third generation old would be the ice sheen stuff. Somewhat still around but very limited. This leads to my last question.
Where did these white and red variations fit in: ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cincinnati-Cyclones-Men-Size-L-XL-Hockey-White-Jersey-By-BAUER-/251189669874?pt=Other_Sports_Fan_Shop&hash=item3a7c122ff2&nma=true&si=8uqaE9yn2J6GV6rtOzPyGqQIm8U%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/Official-ECHL-Cincinnati-Cyclones-replica-hockey-jersey-adult-L-XL-by-Bauer-/261100815462?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item3ccad24466&nma=true&si=8uqaE9yn2J6GV6rtOzPyGqQIm8U%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
It would appear that these are, if at all, a generation 3. Where current generation 1 is in use, generation 2 is the black, white, yellow, and red bauer, generation 3 is the bauer in white and red, and ice sheen being generation 4.
So, please for lack of my sanity, help adjust the following or post your own!
1. Generation 1 - SP: A. White w/ tiwster - Game used B. Red w/ tiwster - Game used C. Black w/ Cincinnati - Game used D. Black w/ twister - Promotional only?
2. Generation 2 - Possibly SP in last year(s) Bauer predominately With all main logo as twister like presnet day PLUS Cincinnati in words incorporated into logo: A. White w/ Hockey guy C L shoulder Tornado R shoulder - Game used B. Black w/ Hockey guy C on both sholders - Game used C. Yellow w/ Hockey guy C on R shoulder Tornado on L shoulder - Game used D. Red w/ Tornado on both shoulders - Game used
3. Generation 3 - Bauer version of Ice Sheen layout with Hockey guy C as main logo with plain shoulders (Non metallic design): A. White B. Red C. Perhaps there was a Black also?
4. Generation 4 - Ice Sheen with Hockey guy C as main logo with plain shoulders (metallic design): A. Red B. Silver/White |

Black with Twister was game used as an alternate first used in 07-08 with the "strait" font.
It was used again in 08-09 with the Nashville style font.
To the best of my knowledge an actual game worn (Not a replica, the real jersey) Twister black is extremely rare as most were given to the players at the end of the season.
The jersey was abandoned in 09-10 for the black "Cincinnati" jersey.
All the Twister Blacks were made by SP. (Game worn and replica)
Hope it helps. |

| Additionally there are a bunch of jerseys on Ebay that were constructed especially for resale on EBAY. Most if the Pink in the Rink jerseys are not real, but concepts that were never worn. |

Thanks for the info on the black generation 1. I dug up a Dustin Sproat autograph picture of him playing with this one on that he gave me, the black with twister logo, when I had him sign a game worn jersey of his.
Definitely a fan of the Cincinnati across the front. Very classic look.
And yea, I forgot to even mention that text was changed. It appears off hand that the text was the same in the past all throughout until the generation 1 went from the straight block style text to the current one whatever it is.
I also have noticed a difference in quality of the retail - promotional jerseys left over from the generation 2 and beyond in the Bauer makes. I have seen some with a lighter quality make which are usually noticable with a white inside tag that looks like a t shirt would have; these jerseys also have a screen-print style bauer logo on the back bottom right. The heavier duty retail - promotional jerseys have an inside tag that resembles the current generation 1 SP tag stitched in versus the one above ( white cheaper style t shirt tag ). The back then has a Bauer logo stitched on the bottom right instead of a screen print.
Current generation 1 SP's are all of same quality and are extremely consistant. Quite impressed with SP jerseys to be honest even when compared to Reebok. I have a ton of Reebok stuff I wear for hockey games I play, and seen from the NHL level SP seems to make an extremely nice product that holds up without getting too cut up and has excellent material. |
