FORT WAYNE, Indiana – The Cincinnati Cyclones (15-8-2-0) erased an early 1-0 deficit by scoring four unanswered goals as they defeated the Fort Wayne Komets (13-11-1-1) by a 4-1 final score in front of 5,260 at Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Former Cyclones Thomas Beauregard put the Komets up 1-0 at 13:39 of the opening period; after catching a centering pass from behind the net, Beauregard sent a wrist shot over the shoulder of Michael Houser (W, 29 saves, 1-0-0-0) to give his team the one goal edge. Cincinnati would answer back, though, just 43 seconds later when David Pacan buried a rebound past Charlie Effinger (L, 31 saves, 6-6-0-1) to knot the score at one through 20 minutes.

Josh Shalla broke the deadlock just 4:25 into the middle stanza as he slid in another rebound for his 11th goal of the season after Effinger denied Mathieu Aubin’s shot from the right circle. And thanks to 12 more saves from Houser, the Cyclones carried a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

Early in the third period, John McFarland attempted to feed Mike Embach on the back door; however, the pass ricocheted of a Komets skate in front of the net and trickled past Effinger to extend Cincinnati’s cushion to 3-1 at the 5:52 mark. In the final minute, Fort Wayne pulled the goalie in hopes of rallying with the extra skater, but Garrett Wilson caught a pass at center ice and lobbed it into the empty cage for his sixth of the season at 19:53 to seal the 4-1 Cyclones victory.

First Star: David Pacan (1 goal, 1assist for Cincinnati)
Second Star: Michael Houser (Winning goaltender, 29 saves)
Third Star: Thomas Beauregard (1 goal for Fort Wayne)

The Cyclones will return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, December 21 when they welcome in the South Carolina Stingryas at 7:30pm.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Congrats to Michael Houser. Not an easy place to play your first pro game and get a win. Look forward to seeing him play in the future.

Good job Cyclones! The Komets are the champs of the cheap shots behind the play. Kick their a**es. If you go to their place keep your back to the wall and watch for flying beer.
