i've been wanting to do this for awhile just to see what other peoples opinions are about cory.
first, the facts: in 36 games, cory has 20 goals, 15 assists, for 35 points and is a +2.
i'm not going to deny that cory has talent. i just wish he had the work ethic to match his talent level. the fact that he has 35 pts but is only a +2 tells me that he doesn't like playing defense. to his defense 10 of his goals have been on the PP (which don't count towards the +/-) and 5 of his goals have been game winners. however, by looking at jason deitsch's numbers (37 games, 19g, 19a, 39pts and +12)it becomes obvious, at least to me, that cory is not reaching his potential. he was the 40th pick in the 2003 draft and he is being out played by a guy that wasn't even drafted. jason has 4 more points than cory, but is +12 vs +2. and just because i'm sure someone will bring it up jason has 7 PP goals, so making the argument that cory has more PP goals won't cut it.
the team is really playing well right now, even cory seems to be playing with more of a team first attitude, but i still think he takes shifts off. if he would give the effort equal to his skill level he would be top 10 in all 3 scoring categories (goals, assists, points). he needs to to a better job of creating plays for himself and his teammates. i think it would be great if chuck demoted cory to third line for a couple of games to bring his ego back down to earth. |

I think Cory is a great player and should be playing at the next level
but like Elvis said he don't always give 100% and this hurts him alot. |

Taking nothing from Cory,but if we have the impression he is "dogging it" at
times, my guess is the Cyclones,Hamilton and Montreal is too!When you have
talent like he has,some start to think they can turn it on and off.Please Cory
realize that now is not the time to ever give less than 100%.Just like the player
that can get suckered into cheap penalties, the minors will be your home in hockey.
Maybe the coaches need to take the attitude of less shifts and demand full effort
on each.Then increase the time in steps.Hamilton is not going to want a limited
shift player and the point will get through! |

| If Urquhart actually wanted to be in the AHL he would be there now. Simply put. He has the talent, he just dosn't have the work ethic, and he's going to continue riding on his own coattails from that lovely 2nd-round draft-pick signing bonus until the day he realizes that an ECHL salary doesn't exactly equal comfy future. |

| excuse me?!?!? I was playing on facebook tonight and happened to notice that Urquhart changed his status to "on my way to hamilton"...is this just his own wishful thinking or is he REALLY, PHYSICALLY on his was to Hamilton?!? Dannielle, you seem to be the Cory know it all so I'm hoping you can help here! |

| Cory updated this morning and he's definitely in Hamilton. I'm glad that we won't have to deal with his lazieness and a new guy will get the chance to prove that hard work is better than pure talent alone. However I hate that he is being rewarded for his lack luster effort!!! |

I saw that last night, too, and I was like... it can't be possible.
Y'know, if he half-assed his way to what, 40 pts in 42 games or whatever, imagine if he actually worked as hard as Deitsch/Daoust/Gajda/anybody else... |

here's the problem....if he ended up here to begin with that means hamilton was less than impressed with his effort, skill or TEAMWORK (sorry a few good passes to sam does not suddenly make him a team player). why should we think any of those things will be any different this time around in the AHL.
personally i think he'll be back by the end of the month. hopefully he won't plague the team like the lazy puck magnet that he is. i think the best case scenario would be, he gets to the hamilton, they see that he is still lazy and send him back down to us. after playing some games in the AHL cory realizes that he has to skate hard every shift in order to there and that assists are as important as goals, so he decides to play up to his potential for us the rest of the season....but who am i kidding...he'll be back and he'll still be lazy |
