The team is winning,everyone is skating hard ..but.. does anyone
else have a problem with the untimely penalties by Avery Wilson
and Brian Mullally? Every game it seems these two are getting
penalties right after a goal and it seems to kill the momentum
we just got. Avery has been one to get suckered into retaliation
penalties and Mullally has a habit of picking up "nothing penalties"
right in front of the refs. Any answers? |

avery is our "goon" especially with jimmy not playing. i have no problem with avery trying to start something to fire the team up especially when our guys are getting, hooked and slashed all over the place with no call, yet as soon as a trenton player feels a stick touch them they go sprawling to the ice. as long as he is taking an "off setting" penalty i don't have too much of a problem with it. brian's problem is that he is an average defenseman at best and sometimes he has to hook, trip, or hold just to keep a player from getting an uncontested shot. remember back in the fall when we lost all those games? weber sat brian, play macdonald and the wins started coming.
in avery's case he could be sat in favor of jimmy or barret, which was what happened on friday. brian is a bit harder to deal with. rory is up in binghamton on his PTO for about another month and john gleed looks to be spending a lot of time in hamilton from here on out and we don't have any more defensman. weber could switch the pairings up, but the other 2 lines play well together so that could do more harm than good. i guess you just have to limit his ice time and hope for the best. |

It sort of reminds me of putting Daoust and Gadja together.Friday
night was great with them seperated because they could almost skate
wild and create havoc while the other four played under control and
Trenton was out of sync.Today when they were together they had to play
more under control and Trenton could set up. As far as Avery goes, too
many times you can see him "lock in" on a target and the refs have to
make the call. |

Avery tries to start a fight every shift and 99.9% of the time it's random and the other guy's like, "Go away."
As for Brian... well, other than Friday when he randomly put up some major hustle, I don't think he's that great of a d-man at all. Notice his plus-minus on a regular (when he plays) basis? It's the worst on the team, normally. And at least a few of you know what a stickler I am for plus minus. |
