Looking at the ECHL website today and they announced their player of the week and goalie of the week. This is the 16th week this season that the awards have been made. 32 players named and not one Cyclone in spite of the record and standing the team has achieved. I know the organization nominates players but does anyone know how the final selections are made?

The answer is simple as to why no Cyclone has won PoW. The scoring is spread around on this team. There are other teams that rely on one or two players for all their scoring and those players rack up big numbers. The Cyclones haven't had one player who has dominated the stat sheet for all games in a one week period.

Hetenyi probably should have been goalie of the week a couple of weeks ago when he got runner-up. He had a much better GAA and SV% than the guy who won, but he was 1-0-1 while the other guy was 3-0.

As far as the process. Each team faxes in their nominations on Monday and someone in the league offices makes the decision. I have no idea who makes the selection, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was an intern.
