| Nice! That will start balancing out the conferences, especially with Trenton's unfortunate demise. |

| It would be nice to get a team back in Lexington and/or Louisville as well. Easy road trips. |

Yes, but I believe those two cities aren't as supportive of hockey as others. |

Would be nice travel / rivalry wise, but doesnt Indy have a junior team that does pretty well already? |

Seems like any level of pro hockey in Kentucky is dead and buried. Lexington's attendence was atrocious when they had an ECHL team, and Louisville soured to hockey due to shady business dealings I believe. Doesnt seem like a wise move to try to compete with college basketball in either of those cities. |

I have a contact in Rapid City that told me that the ECHL move is not quite set but its pretty much there. They would no doubt join the Mountain Division so they can play alongside Idaho, Colorado and Utah.
I am also hearing grumblings that Allen might jump from CHL to ECHL as well |

| I am thinking the ECHL will recruit Kalamazoo to join the East Division to take Trenton's place, thereby balancing the divisions... there are no true viable candidates from any of the other leagues to join the Eastern Conference, so look for the North Division to include Cincinnati, Toledo, Evansville and Fort Wayne but not Kalamazoo... and if Indianapolis gets a team this year that essentially clinches that scenario... |

Why Kalamazoo? It makes little sense geographically. Geographically speaking, Cincinnati and Toledo would be much better fits to move to the Atlantic Division.
Here's another idea; just switch the Eastern Conference back to 2 divisions. |

I like your idea the best-go back to North and South ! By the way, here is a current map from the ECHL site (still contains Trenton though):http://echl.com/team-map-s12363 |

Kalamazoo would fight like crazy if they were moved to the East Division. That would be a stupid move. They Wings had trouble at the gate this year, and need Fort Wayne, and Toledo fans to help at the gate. The best idea would be to merge the remaining East Division members into the North division, and return to the divisional playoff format to lower travel costs. Hearing rumors that the Reading people are very nervous about the effects of the AHL moving into the Lehigh Valley. Elmira is a good market, and can hopefully rebound from the horrible year they had in the front office. I hope with new ownership the Jackals can remain a strong franchise for years to come. Wheeling is on thin ice. Their attendance continues to hover around 2500 mark, and one wonders how much longer are their owners going to lose money until they fold up shop.
I keep hearing Rapid City and Allen to the ECHL. The time frame has been moved, and I cannot find any official announcements. I do however find that the CHL is very unstable, and may even collapse in the upcoming weeks. The CHL has new franchises in Brampton, Ontario and St. Charles, Mo. It is going to be a very interesting summer in minor pro.
Back to the ECHL the division would look like this which would give us a lot of different teams here in Cincinnati to play.
Cincinnati Elmira Evansville Fort Wayne Kalamazoo Toledo Reading Wheeling
That would be a nice fun division. |

Newest rumor on the internet is that a Judge ruled that Rapid City and Allen could not leave the CHL to join the ECHL due the 10 year agreement they signed with the CHL.
However this does not mean the teams can't fold, and then be expansion teams in the ECHL. Stay tuned...... |

| Peoria would have been a good fit for the ECHL but opted instead for a franchise in the SPHL after the AHL franchise was sold to Vancouver and in the process of being relocated. |

Louisville would be a strong ECHL market with the right ownership/front office team and a building like they have in Evansville or Florida. |
