Chuck Weber has been re assigned as Associate Head Coach and the Director of Hockey Operations in San Antonio. It seems to me IMO that they like Weber's behind the scenes ability to gain talent which we all know he did well in Cincinnati.

So...who's the new head coach? I assume this means a big road block to Chuck's advancement in coaching.

Per Nashille beat writer Joshua Cooper(@JoshuaCooper: Former preds associate coach Peter Horachek has been named the head coach of Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

And Jeremy Smith - "We're letting Jeremy Smith (go). We just feel Hellberg and Mraznek's upside (is higher)." - #Preds' Poile on qualifying the @mkeadmirals G.

That's a bad break for Chuck as far as being a head coach is concerned.... on the plus side I am glad they recognize his ability to find and sign good fresh talent... that alone is why the Clones are successful... still sucks hes not going to coach this year :(

Maybe Chuck's calling is more GM than NHL Head Coach. Tha great job
he did for us plugging holes in the roster due to injuries and callups
kept us always near or at the top. I take the fact he is still in the
organization as a sign they still respect his abilities.

I posted in April his future as the head coach in San Antonio was in question because the Panthers weren't happy with the development of their young players.

He still had a year to go on his contract, so they found something for him to do to justify having to pay him through July 1, 2014.

As I've mentioned before, a head coaching job in college hockey is where he is best suited. Or the ECHL again.

I agree... Jarrod's contract I think is good only until the upcoming season... If Jarrod stepped aside in favor of Chuck for the greater good, we would never be able to thank Jarrod enough :)

Skalde was just given a multi year contract there is no need for Chuck here as II for one dont believe Chuck is any better a coach. I also dont know why he would want to take a step backwards to Cincinnati and the ECHL. Agree with Donnie--I expect they are being nice to him rather than dumping him now and are giving him a year to find a good long term college position that will pay him a lot more than the Cyclones.

Is there anyone that ever thinks that perhaps those who scale back a level lower in any sport sometimes dont have a damn choice but to do so? I can name hundreds who had to... The heat was coming hard on Chip Kelly and thats why he jumped to the NFL... if after this show cause crap expires and he cant hack it with the Eagles, do you really think he wouldnt jump on a chance to go back to college? juuusssssst sayyyyyin.......

However, I will agree , I think Chuck would make a wonderful college coach... he's a good recruiter, a good preparer of young talent, and someone any college would be proud to head up their program!
