Cyclones agree to terms with Madore, Bodie

August 13, 2013

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Rob Madore and forward Kyle Bodie for the 2013-14 season.

Madore, a 25-year-old Pittsburgh, Pa. native, comes to Cincinnati after completing his first full professional season in 2012-13. He amassed an 11-12-3 record and 3.29 goals-against average in a combined 27 games with the Evansville IceMen and Florida Everblades. The 5-foot-10, 176-pound backstop also appeared in nine tilts with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, collecting a 5-3-0 mark and a 1.83 goals-against average.

Madore had a brief stint with the Chicago Express at the end of the 2011-12 campaign, posting an 8-3-1 record and 2.41 goals-against average in 12 games. Prior to going pro, he was a four-year letter winner at the University of Vermont, where he ended his career ranked second all-time at UVM in saves (3,352) behind only Tim Thomas, third in games played (127) behind Thomas and Joe Fallon, fourth in goals against average (2.91), fifth in save percentage (.902), and sixth in wins (41).

Bodie, a 25-year-old, will embark on his first professional season this fall with the Cyclones. The East St. Paul, Manitoba native is coming off of a career-year at Union College where he racked up 33 points (9g-24a) in 40 games with the Dutchmen last season. Over his four-year collegiate career, he collected a total of 85 points (28g-57a) in 122 games and helped lead his team to a pair of ECAC titles.

Interesting that they sign a non affiliated goalie with ECHL/AHL experience. Nothing against Madore but the ECHL is where NHL teams try out their youngsters so it seems at one of the two affiliates doesnt have a candidate.

I think you're right. Florida didn't sign Foster or Grumet-Morris.
Looks like Houser could stick with San Antonio.

Grumet-Morris has long since been signed signed with SA. Keep your head up, Danc! Looks like Madore will be our guy.

The FLA/SA depth chart looks like this Markstrom/Clemmensen > Houser(FLA)/Grumet-Morris(SA)> ?

The Panthers have a 24 yr old Russian and a 21 year old Canadian in the mix but who knows how they'll factor in. The Russian player for CSKA Moscow last season but didn't do much. The Canadian has been playing in the Canadian University system.

Darling is reported to have been signed by the Milwaukee Admirals, but nothing official out of the Ads or the AHL sites. The move doesn't even appear on eliteprospects.com, which tends to jump on the rumor ship early.

If the reports are correct, Darling is likely a depth guy. Where he starts the season depends on the rest of the NSH/MKE depth chart. Since he's technically signed by the Ads, he may be their #2 (behind Hellberg) since the Preds may prefer to have there #4 play here in Cincinnati and start regularly.

Long story short, if the reports of Darling joining the Ads are true, he won't show up on the Cyclones' roster until he gets assigned here, since the 'Clones weren't the one to sign him.
