Does anyone else think it's a peculiar use of financial resources to travel across the continent to play two pre-season games? Is the ECHL underwriting some of the Cyclones' expenses to make the trip?

I'm pretty sure Alaska helps fund the trip...

I was wondering too, but I am willing to bet Alaska is help financing part of this trip. Hopefully this is a Kelly Cup preview.

My understanding--could be wrong--is that during the regular season the other teams pay to get to Vancouver and then the Aces pick up the rest of the tab.

Whats interesting is that these games are 11 and 10 days before the regular season starts which means none of the affiliated players will be in camp and most of the team that will skate those two games wont be with the team when the season opens. Alaska I believe is non affiliated so they will have their roster much more set.

Minor point, but I heard it was Seattle. Makes sense as Vancouver
would involve customs.

I don't understand the reason from a financial or a team bonding perspective except if this preseason trip fulfills the Cyclones obligation to travel west during the regular season. It's been a while since they've made the expensive western journey.

I swear, everytime I come on this website it seems like nodbody knows what the heck is going on. With the AHL season probably starting a week or two earlier than the ECHL, I would bet we will already have most of the players from above that we will get.

And on the subject of financial resources, I'd find it extremely unlikely that management would spend any major money traveling the team all the way to Alaska (or any western team) unless it was paid for by the opponent. Seriously, it's not rocket science.
