Neat little piece of forgotten Cincinnati hockey history. Only 1,225 people were in attendance.

ON THIS DATE: November 29th 1981 - The Tigers nabbed their sixth-straight win with a 4-1 victory over the Nashville South Stars. Cincinnati, minus both of their goaltenders, borrowed 26-year-old Doug Dragasevich from an Ontario men's league. Drag' stopped 29 shots in his only professional appearance. After Cincinnati's regular goaltenders returned, he headed back to the Toronto area where he was never heard from again.

Here is the article of the game.

Tigers Win Sixth In A Row.
Cincinnati Enquirer by Terry Flynn

The Cincinnati Tigers, getting a strong performance in goal from newly-arrived Doug Dragasevich, settled down after a boring first period and picked up their sixth straight victory, a 4-1 triumph over Nashville at Riverfront Coliseum.

Dragasevich, a Concordia University graduate who had been playing with a senior hockey team in Georgetown, turned back 29 shots and was especially impressive in the first period when he prevented what looked like certain South Star goals on shots from point-blank range.

The Tigers were outshot, 12-5, in the first 20 minutes but neither team scored. The Tigers scored first in the second period at 2:46 on a sharp angle shot by Bruce Boudreau off a pass from Greg Hotham while the teams skated four a side.

A Nashville defensive breakdown helped set up the second Cincinnati goal at 14:25. Ron Sedlbauer passed cross-ice to Gary Yaremchuk who was all alone in the near circle and pumpbed a shot past goalie Lindsay Middlebrook.

The second period was a complete reversal of the first as the Tigers outshot Nashville, 17-4. But the Stars pulled within one goal just 1:02 into the third when Craig Homola knocked Archie Henderson's rebound past Dragasevich, who was pulled to the other side.

The Stars, however, with several players called up in recent days by the parent Minnesota North Stars, just didn't have the horses to match up with Cincinnati. Norm Aubin, back for s second time after injuring a muscle in his side, got his 11th goal of the season at 7:44, and Sedlbauer scored the final goal at 8:34 from the near circle with help from Aubin and Greg Hotham.

I picked Doug Dragasevich up at the airport using head coach Doug Carpenter's car. He was supposed to just backup for the game and then head back home but Curt Ridley couldn't go. One of the memorable moments in the Tigers brief history.

Ron Sedlbaurer, who scored the final goal of the game for the Tigers, was an interesting story. He only played 4-5 shifts a game most nights but still scored more than 20 goals.
